Position Summary:
As a Realtime Mixed Reality / Spatial Computing Intern, you’ll contribute to innovative projects designed to inspire and educate audiences about the ocean. As part of this internship, you’ll collaborate with gaming studios and industry professionals, contributing to projects from concept development to final execution. You will utilize Realtime engines such as Unreal Engine/UEFN to create VR/AR and interactive experiences that capitalize on OceanX's existing content of photogrammetry and game ready assets to drive education and excitement around OceanX initiatives.
This is a paid opportunity. This program will run from June through August and involves working approximately 40 hours per week. This opportunity operates in a hybrid work schedule – this intern will split their time between our Singapore office, OceanXplorer research vessel, and potentially partner offices to allow for in-person meetings/collaboration. This role will require availability to overlap across time zones between our NY and Singapore offices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Research and experiment with emerging spatial computing technologies to push the boundaries of immersive ocean story telling
- Work with OceanXplorer scientific missions to create regional and location-specific immersive experiences based on real-world expeditions
- Collaborate with the OceanX Digital Programs team to deliver VR and AR experiences across Meta, Apple and other hardware
- Utilize tools such as Unreal Engine to create interactive experiences using blueprint visual scripting
- Create interactive location-based entertainment for museums
- Create education focused experiences in Fortnite and Roblox and optimize existing OceanX assets to be appropriate for these experiences
Qualifications:
Professional Experience:
- Actively pursuing an undergraduate degree, graduate degree, or recent graduates
- Experience with Unreal Engine
- Experience working with VR and AR across Meta, Apple vision pro or handheld AR devices
- Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work with game developers, designers, educators, and scientists
- Experience with Fortnite/ UEFN is beneficial
