Grant Thornton is seeking an R&D Tax Assistant Manager / Manager to join our growing Innovations Tax Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support a wide-ranging and ever-expanding client base by delivering expert advice on R&D tax reliefs. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a client-focused mindset, and leadership skills to help drive success in this key area of our business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management: Manage a portfolio of R&D clients, ensuring outstanding service delivery while fostering and maintaining long-term relationships.

  • Technical Expertise: Provide specialist R&D tax advice, analyse and interpret complex data, and deliver tailored solutions for clients.

  • Report Writing: Prepare high-quality R&D reports and professional documents, including proposals, that reflect the excellence of our services.

  • Team Leadership: Effectively delegate work, provide constructive feedback, and mentor junior team members to support their development and growth.

  • Risk and Financial Management: Ensure adherence to the firm’s risk management procedures and oversee the financial management of client accounts, including billing commitments.

  • Cross-Selling Opportunities: Demonstrate a thorough understanding of Grant Thornton’s full range of services, identifying opportunities to add value for clients across service lines.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: ACA and/or CTA qualified, with at least 1 year of post-qualification experience in a relevant tax position.

  • Technical Skills: A deep understanding of R&D tax reliefs and strong analytical capabilities to develop innovative solutions.

  • Communication Skills: Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations and prepare well-structured reports.

  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to manage multiple engagements, prioritize tasks effectively, and deliver on deadlines.

  • Team Player: A collaborative mindset with a focus on providing exceptional service and contributing positively to the team culture.
