NN RAS (Risk and Actuarial Services) is a Centre of Excellence for NN Group, focusing on top quality and efficient solutions. We serve as an internal centre of consultancy, training, innovation and automation. We support various quantitative departments at NN Head Office in the Hague (the Netherlands) and NN subsidiaries all over Europe.
Due to the increasing demand from Business Units and Head Office, the NN RAS team – operating with around 100 people – is in a continuous and dynamic growth. Actuaries, mathematicians, data scientists, physicists and software engineers form the multinational team of NN RAS.

NN RAS provides support in 5 professional areas as an internal consultancy:
• Economic Scenario Generation (ESG),
• Quantitative Development,
• Software Development & Engineering,
• Cashflow Modelling and
• Model Validation.
There are also various project teams being formed for actual insurance-related matters to help NN stay a pioneer in its industry, such as the IFRS17 project team.
The NN RAS Quant Development Methodology department opens now a vacancy for a Medior Quantitative Analyst to contribute at the further improvement of the NN risk systems. The Quant Development team works at the forefront of Risk Systems development, winner of European Award for Risk Systems.
Main responsibilities
• Independently test the functional implementation of the mathematical models used to compute risk on the balance sheet of the company
• Design the optimal testing strategy, which may involve (partial) reimplementation of the models by means of scripting languages
• Work together with the developers and the business analysts to deliver a high quality product in terms of user experience and diagnostics (logging, intermediate calculation results, etc.)
• Define improvements in the calculations and to improve the user experience
• Provide user support (e.g. analyze the model results) and trainings

• University degree in Actuarial Sciences, Econometrics, Mathematics, Physics, or related field.
• 1-3 years proven experience in banking or insurance.
• Affinity with mathematical modelling. Ideally, practical knowledge of financial derivatives, including the techniques to price them.
• Must have ability to code in either VBA or Python and willingnes to learn the other.
• Nice to have: knowledge in R.
• Practical hands-on approach - you can combine rigorous mathematical thinking with a practical business flavor.
• Excellent communication skills in English and cooperative spirit
