Job Summary:

The Quality Manager will manage the quality assurance and quality control (QAQC) processes of co-manufacturing facilities. This role is crucial in maintaining the integrity and consistency of BeatBox products, ensuring they meet our stringent quality standards and regulatory requirements. This person will be the subject matter expert of our co-packers manufacturing process and manage the relationship as it pertains to quality.This position will report to the QAQC Manager. This position will be remote but must be flexible to report onsite if located in Austin, TX. There will be travel required, domestic and international, up to 25% of the time.


Supervisory Responsibilities: 


  • This position does have direct supervisory responsibilities but is subject to change.


Duties/Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ensuring all products are made in accordance with the company procedures, food safety standards, packaging requirements, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement quality assurance procedures and processes at co-packers. 
  • Manage quality related projects for co-packers. 
  • Provide guidance and direction of production processes and out of specifications at co-packers to maintain quality production. 
  • Monitor, track, and analyze all assigned co-packers QAQC processes and data.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control of quality data and metrics.  
  • Pioneer new systems, standard operating procedures, and departmental policies to improve the quality control process.
  • Lead improvements in product execution, reduced defect rate, and production efficiency.
  • Maintain and lead communication with co-packers regarding all quality related items. 
  • Perform and engage in food safety and quality audits at co-packers and warehouses to ensure all BeatBox partner facilities are compliant with regulatory and quality guidelines - travel required. 
  • Manage sites follow ups and investigations for critical complaints or audit findings.
  • Manage customer complaints, tracking and recovery/recall. 
  • Oversee and manage third-party testing for microbiological, allergen, sensory and other miscellaneous testing as required. 
  • Maintain a centralized sensory program to ensure flavor consistency at co-packers. 
  • Supervise co-packer lab functions, new product testing and batch accuracy. 
  • Maintain complaint and nonconformance processing through records and tracking systems, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions.  
  • Manage product holds or quarantines at co-packers.
  • Assist R&D team with new product development as needed.
  • Manage the onboarding of new products and create quality metrics for implementation, onsite travel may be required for implementation. 
  • Provide scientific technical support to the Operations Team and other BeatBox departments.  
  • Work with the Operations Team to lead, maintain and enforce all site policies and procedures, QAQC standards and programs at BeatBox. 
  • Continued research and education to ensure continuous improvements are being made.
  • Conduct all activities in accordance with local, state, and federal liquor control regulations.

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Bachelor’s of Science degree in chemistry, microbiology, food science, or a related field.
  • 3 or more years experience in the manufacturing/production in the food and beverage industry in a QA role.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety standards and regulatory compliance in the food and beverage industry. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Tools such as Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
  • Some knowledge of Statistical Process Control is desirable. 
  • Experience in project management, ability to lead, assign and track tasks of others, as well as managing multiple projects at one. 
  • Applicants must be able to accommodate international travel.
  • Ability to grasp scientific concepts quickly and apply this knowledge to solve problems quickly. 
  • Ability to multi-task and perform in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent communication and planning skills. 
  • Strong organizational habits, a self-motivated work ethic, and good critical thinking/problem solving skills.
  • Motivated to make a difference. 
  • Outgoing personality with strong social and interpersonal abilities. 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
