Health and Safety

  • Maintains high level of health and safety within laboratory area
  • Takes part and encourages the use of Behavioral Safety Audits in the Workplace
  • Respect all site safety rules including those applicable for the safe engagement of laboratory contractors
  • Complies with the requirements of all relevant legislation, including those applicable to chemical safety
  • The holder may be required to be a qualified First Aider and must ensure compliance with all relevant acts and regulations as required

Quality Assurance

  • Guarantees that the quality of products dispatched from the plant complies with customer specifications, internal standards, certifications and regulations
  • Implements and monitors quality control plans ensuring quality at every step of the manufacturing process, for certified products, ensures compliance and the relationships with the certification bodies, builds the files for any new certificate

Laboratory Practices and Management

  • Defines SMART KPI’s for the team and department, Monitor and analyze the plant's KPIs and equipment related to QC
  • Ensures the correct functioning of the Quality department equipment’s, according to the standards and operating manual/instructions
  • Consolidates the full picture of the plant's Quality equipment/ apparatus installations performance. In case of deviation, identify the origin, the causes and elaborates a proposal correcting the deviation to the Plant Director
  • Continuous improvement (5S and improvement projects): identify actions to be taken, designs and implements those which could improve the functioning of the plant. Participate in cross-functional discussions with Production and Quality.
  • Management of change: in case of modifications of equipment or raw materials, participate in the necessary modification of the related processes and evaluate the impact on the global performance (process, quality, environment, process safety).
  • Manages the relations with external labs (sending of the samples, reception and registration of the results). Is the main point of contact of Imerys technical Centers for the topics related to analytic methods and metrology?
  • Contributes to the mastery of process / product interactions knowledge with the objective to reinforce process control and prevent any critical quality drift
  • Manages special requests: customer samples, data, DTPs
  • Processes quality data for sake of reporting or analyses. Participates in quality meetings as an expert in the quality control techniques. Ensures the integrity of the data written in the certificates of quality.
  • Manages products internal specifications, and proposes necessary updates/reports about Product Quality. Support cross-functional activities and provide pro-active support for the same, ensuring full collaboration for attainment of organizational and site objectives
  • Carries out the integration of new products & services in the plant related to Quality department
  • Ensures raw materials are of the right quality
  • Investments projects: Collaborates with the project manager to forecast evolutions in the lab equipment needs, elaborates and presents Capex files to the direction, plans installation and supervises quality control laboratory manager & operators, ensures their development
  • Manages the laboratory team (including a lab supervisor and lab operators), ensures a good organization of the people in charge of the quality control operations (knowledge of procedures, distribution of tasks, backup functions), collects training needs and organizes them, develops skills, evaluates the performance of each lab team member. Organizes the integration of new team members and ensures their proper training.

Customer satisfaction management:

Carries out the management of customer complaints, Be the voice of customer within the plant, provides answers to any client question, participates in customer visits. Monitor, track and analyses Customer Complaint with the aim to eliminate route cause

Integrated management system:

  • Ensures compliance of the IMS with ISO standards, liaise with the Safety Manager
  • Ensures compliance with the BIS system and is accountable for the BIS certification process
  • Watch regulations, advises the Plant Director on QHSE topics related to quality
  • Is responsible for the global documentation management system of the plant : identifies documented information and ensures its update, in relation with the concerned departments of the plant

Education and Experience requirements

B Tech or M. Sc in Chemistry, Material sciences or equivalent

10 to 12 years’ experience on Quality management within an industrial environment
