Quality Engineer
Contribute to Collins Customer and Quality Excellence by being the go-to person for all questions related to production process quality and material conformance, interfacing with both internal and external customers. In this role you will work with a high degree of autonomy on a broad range of interesting, complex, and varied questions, driving solutions and improvements in close cooperation with engineering and production functions.
This is an on-site role located in Heidelberg, Germany.
Responsibilities:
• Plan, organize, direct and report on process- and materials related activities to assure applicable requirements specified by engineering, internal processes, industry standards, ECSS/ESA and customers are met. May include reporting on raw materials quality, (special) process service providers’ performance and laboratory testing
• Drive and report on non-conformance trend analysis and systematic RCCA and problem resolution
• Perform quality evaluations and acceptance of production process changes, including of production and testing equipment, and work transfers
• Support production process development, qualification and improvement
• Prepare, review and release product & process quality (assurance) documents and reports
• Support internal and external audits
• Advance quality compliance and improvement
• Support Continuous Improvement initiatives (LEAN/CORE)
Basic Qualifications & Requirements:
• Bachelor´s or Master´s degree in an advanced technical discipline or several years of equivalent professional experience, ideally in the aerospace sector
• Deep knowledge and understanding of qualification, testing, and production processes related to electronics production, assembly, machining and surface treatment
• Knowledge of space-specific quality standards and best practices
• Fluent English and German language skills
• Good SAP R/3 and MS Office skills
• EU citizenship required
• Excellent communication skills with a high degree of persuasiveness, assertiveness, and persistence
• Ability to deal with complex and difficult situations
• Independent and goal-oriented way of working in an international environment
• Willingness to travel (about 10%)
