Primary Purpose:
Responsible for ensuring software products meet the established standard of quality including reliability usability and performance. As a part of the Quality Assurance team, incumbents will estimate, plan, and coordinate software testing activities. Incumbents will also ensure that quality issues and defects are appropriately identified, documented, tracked, and resolved in our defect tracking system. The incumbents in this role will work closely with the Product Owner, Quality Assurance team and the Development team(s) to create the overall test strategy. Developing and executing either manual and/or automated tests across company test systems applies best practices for reusability to minimize the maintenance and to ensure that all information systems products meet the highest company standards and end-user needs. Implement various types of testing to ensure thorough testing of software and freedom from defects and helps to resolve problems and issues to ensure the highest degree of customer satisfaction.
Our flexible/ hybrid work schedule includes 3 in-person days at one of our core locations and 2 remote days. Our core office locations includes Chicago, IL.

Duties & Responsibilities:
- Responsible for fully understanding all application's functionality and features. This may require working closely with business users and/or subject matter experts to understand the application and business processes and gaining a global understanding of the integration and dependencies of applications across company systems
- Responsible for carefully reviewing requirements and making recommendations to help ensure that they meet our end user needs and business solution
- High level understanding of Traceability
- Experience with building test cases for both UI, API and DB testing as the primary focus areas
- Recommending a test strategy and approach for various tests and test types to ensure that system and business requirements have been met
- Determine the scope of testing. Features to be tested and features not to be tested for both manual and automation testing. This includes possible other upstream and downstream applications and databases that could be affected
- Adheres to QA design and testing standards
- Working with the QA manager and QA team to determine the testing tools to be used and define the guidelines and principles in creating both manual and automation scripts
- Good understanding of automation framework and automation testing strategy but not driving change to strategy
- Communicates and partners with automation team members to drive the changes
- Create needed test data for both manual and automated testing needs
- Has strong problem-solving skills and ability to overcome obstacles to delivering tasks
- Documents, tracks, communicates test results, analysis, and unresolved defects
- Perform UAT with the application owners to ensure that the system as built meets the system and business requirements
- QA work with developers in resolving issues found during testing
- Provide input to project estimates during planning meetings
- Assist in preparing and modifying project specific test data
- Writing simple automation scripts (both UI and API)
- Has a good understanding of Datadog, APM (Application Performance Monitoring), Consul, and Splunk for log analysis
- Good understanding of ETL (Extract, Transform, and Load) testing
- Has a good understanding of our business, the industry, our customers, and end users
- Aligns tests with business goals and user expectations
Qualifications:
- BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
- Knowledge of test automation tools and software development life cycle development
- Experience working with Agile methodologies such as Scrum
- Experience with databases and able to write and execute SQL commands
- Knowledge of Azure services like Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse Analytics and Azure Blob Storage
- Proficiency in languages such as Python, API coding for scripting and automation
- Clear understanding of QA best practices and processes
- Strong communication skills
- Experience using MS Office
- Experience with Unix

Salary Range: $93,840.00 | $117,300.00 | $140,760.00
