The Quality Engineer — Failure Analysis will start his/her career at Littelfuse focusing on failure analysis for semiconductor IC parts to determine the failure root cause, assessing product reliability, and completing qualification on new and improved products. The position is full time on site.
Job Responsibilities

Responsible for FA (Failure Analysis), Qualification Testing and Reliability Monitoring for semiconductor devices, including but not limited to high voltage, analog and mixed signal ICs, and optically isolated devices.

Conduct testing on customer field failure samples with visual and/or microscopic inspection and photo-documentation, automated test equipment (ATE) testing, bench electrical characterization, x-ray, chemical/laser decapsulation, thermal characterization and other FA techniques to investigate root cause of customer field failures. Work with external labs when advanced FA technique is required.

Perform investigation triage and deep dive investigations to develop hypothesis for failure. Trouble shoot new failure modes. Responsible for completing FA report within a tight time frame.

Conduct qualification and reliability testing to qualify new and improved products and monitor reliability for existing products. Responsible for completing qualification report.

As the owner of the site FA lab, responsible for lab organization, equipment safe operations, maintenance and calibration, operating procedure creation and training, and continuous improvements for the testing techniques.

Support ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 compliance audits and internal audits, and other Quality programs.

Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering is required. Master’s degree in electrical engineering is a plus.

One or more years of relevant experience are required. Experience with failure analysis and/or bench electronic testing equipment is preferred.

Experience with semiconductor IC product design, application, manufacturing, and reliability, familiarity with industry standards (JEDEC, AEC), experience with quality control principles, methodologies, and continuous improvement mindset are all considered a plus.

Exceptional technical analysis skills, strong attention to details, organization skills and effective communication skills are required.

Must be able to successfully handle multiple high priority projects, deliver results and meet the deadlines.
