Role Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the quality assurance and control function, either directly or through Quality Assurance supervisors and staff. This role leads the development of techniques and procedures for inspecting and testing customer products, conducts research on product defects, and recommends modifications to products and quality standards. The position may also include responsibility for inspection and testing operations.

The right candidate must have beverage manufacturing or bottling experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct timely execution of product and packaging evaluations
  • Ensure accuracy and timeliness of inspection and analysis results
  • Interpret trends that may jeopardize product quality and safety
  • Ensure adherence to departmental, company, customer, and regulatory guidelines
  • Coordinate with manufacturing departments to maintain a proactive team effort
  • Oversee training of associates and ensure proper skill set development and documentation
  • Establish sampling plans for various processes including ingredient receiving, blending, and finished goods
  • Troubleshoot quality deviations and provide recommendations for corrective and preventative measures
  • Implement Plant GMP, HACCP, and Sanitation Inspections
  • Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications
  • Formulate and maintain quality control objectives aligned with corporate policies and goals
  • Serve as primary liaison with FDA and other regulatory agencies
  • Establish and implement metrics for monitoring system effectiveness
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits
  • Interface with supplier and customer quality representatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree required in a food science related field; biology, microbiology, or chemistry (Master of Science preferred)
  • Minimum of 10 years in quality assurance/control management function
  • Knowledge of cans, bottles, and Aseptic Tetra Pak packaging preferred
  • Expertise in pasteurization/thermal process systems, HACCP, GMP programs, FSSC 22000, ISO 9001:2015, Organic certification program, State pH Control program, Kosher inspections, and third-party GMP and Food Safety audits
  • Working knowledge of product formulations and specifications
  • Supervisory experience with strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Attention to detail and ability to produce accurate work product

Compensation

  • Base salary range: $100,000-120,000K per year
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) plan
  • Additional benefits eligible after 90 days of employment

  • Indianapolis, Indiana
  • No travel required
