You play an important role in the department, maintaining systems and performing tasks and activities that support our continuous improvement (CI) processes and culture. You help with data collection, ensure its accuracy, promote CI progress and keep track of the department KPI scorecards.
How you will contribute
You will:
- Provide training on CI tools and techniques. You will also help departments follow our established daily management system (DMS)
- Help teams collect data or extract it from the system to support CI activities and the DMS
- Facilitate root-cause analysis to address identified losses and departmental KPI scorecard gaps
- Establish new work standards to sustain improvement
- Train and qualify colleagues on CI tools and new work standards resulting from CI activities
What you will bring

- CI and high-performance work systems experience
- Strong facilitation and communication skills to support team discussions on CI activities
- Application of lean and/or TPM tools in a factory or operations environment
- Ability to manipulate and validate data in manual and automated systems
- Mastery of Excel and other data analytics tools
- Organized and disciplined to support and educate on the DMS process
- Logical and structured thinking to extract insights from data

What you need to know about this position:
- This position reports to the Plant Quality Leader and is responsible to support the East York bakery. The Quality Assurance lead - Laboratory is responsible of the food safety and quality programs that ensure compliance of raw and packaging materials, the pathogen environmental monitoring and water programs, as well as testing controls, calibration, CoA verification and finished product testing.
- The QA Lab Leader manages a team of Quality Technicians that support the different programs enlisted above.
- The position also supports the change management process for formulation recipes and the traceability program, Sensory program and Kosher management.
- This position owns the Standard Work Process of Supplier Quality that is part of the QM pillar.

- Education / Certifications:
Post-secondary degree in a science related field, Food Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology etc.
- Job specific requirements:
- Ability to work in a team environment with a professional and optimistic attitude.
- Excellent written and verbal skills to interact with suppliers and internal key stakeholders.
- Ability to organize, influence, motivate and coach others on desired outcomes.
- Ability to lead a team of Quality Specialists that own the programs managed by the Quality Assurance department.
- Able to work independently with limited supervision, making decisions that impact the production lines.
- Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma tools to address quality losses.
- Proactive to investigate, take action and make decisions without being prompted.
- Flexibility in scheduling. May be required to support sporadically on weekends and off-hours to connect with the core team and the Quality Specialists.
- Advanced computer skills, work proficiently with Microsoft Office and excellent MS Excel skills. A practical test might be needed to assess these skills.
- SAP knowledge is preferred.

- Traveling is not required for this role.
- This position is 100% based on-site. Home office is not available.
Work Schedule: Regular Monday to Friday schedule providing 24/7 support when required.
