Neogen Corporation is seeking a Quality Control Technician I to join our team.
In this role, you will perform microbiological, chemical, and immunochemical testing to support product quality and regulatory compliance. You will work hands-on in a laboratory setting, following GLP and ISO guidelines to perform assays, monitor environmental conditions, and ensure the reliability of results. The ideal candidate will have strong microbiological knowledge, attention to detail, and a passion for continuous improvement in a fast-paced lab environment.

This is a full-time onsite role to support daily lab operations and collaboration.

Hours: Monday-Friday 8-4:30pm EST

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct routine and complex microbiological assays including microbial enumeration, sterility testing, environmental monitoring, and organism identification

• Perform additional chemical, biological, and immunochemical assays as needed

• Adhere to GLP and ISO guidelines in all lab activities and documentation

• Assist in developing new QC procedures and supporting product release testing

• Support investigations, troubleshooting, and method development under direction of the Lab Manager

• Execute equipment qualifications and verify readiness of laboratory instrumentation

• Collaborate on continuous improvement and problem-solving efforts related to contamination and process efficiency

• Help meet departmental and individual performance goals

Skills and Competencies:

• Strong microbiological knowledge and lab technique, including aseptic handling

• Attention to detail, especially critical in sterility and contamination control

• Problem-solving mindset, with ability to troubleshoot issues and support investigations

• Effective communication, both written and verbal, in a scientific and collaborative setting

• Dependability, with strong ownership of quality and accuracy in reporting

• Technical proficiency with lab equipment (e.g., incubators, autoclaves, pipettes)

• Team collaboration and adaptability across a dynamic lab environment

Education and Experience:

• Associate’s degree in a science-related field with 1–2 years of microbiology experience,
  OR

• High school diploma with microbiology coursework and 3 years of microbiology QC lab experience,
  OR

• Bachelor’s degree in Microbiology or related field (preferred)

Additional Requirements:

• Ability to read and interpret SOPs, STPs, and lab protocols

• Basic statistical and mathematical skills for microbiological data analysis

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data tracking and charting

• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and perform repetitive lab motions

• Must pass a standardized color deficiency test (score > 80%)

• Comfortable working in a biosafety-level lab with PPE
