PURPOSE OF POSITION:  
 
The Quality Control Manager (QC Manager) position is responsible for overseeing and implementing quality assurance processes within all aspects of plant quality including assuring overall product quality, quality reporting, quality standards and process documentation. Also, the QC Manager will coordinate tracking and communication of daily, weekly, and monthly KPI performance for facility specific metrics, and actively engage in improvement activities to enhance overall performance. This position will be responsible for assisting with Continuous Improvement Processes and reports. They may analyze data, implement corrective actions, and lead a team of quality team. Effective communication and attention to detail are crucial in this role.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Handle communication and documentation of customer reported quality issues.
  • Manage Food Safety System & ISO compliance. (ISO 22000/ FSSC 22000).
  • Manage regulatory compliance and regulatory reporting.
  • Coordinate customer audits and facility certification audits.
  • Assist with continuous improvement projects and document actions taken.
  • Write and implement SOP across all departments.
  • Conduct relevant training as needed.
  • Coordinate and supervise all quality activities including disposition, sorting, rework, and reconciliation of defective products.
  • Perform root cause analysis for issues and manage CAPA process (corrective actions & preventative actions.
  • Serve as main point of contact for customer document requests and customer complaints.
  • Perform lab testing as needed (Tappi Standards.)

 EDUCATION: 

  • BS Degree in Business Administration (or similar field) is preferred with at least 2-3 years of proven work experience is required.

 EXPERIENCE: 
 

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in manufacturing environment. 
  • HACCP training, Lean six sigma certification, leadership training, UN/DOT training, Forklift certification, CDL, experience with statistical process control, ISTA lab technician certification, and/or Internal Auditor experience.
  • Process Engineering or Quality Engineering experience in a production environment is a plus. 

 CORE COMPETENCIES: 

  • CQE or other related quality certification a plus. 
  • Good print color vision and ability to recognize patterns and match details. 
  • Lean Manufacturing, including Six Sigma (6S) Green Belt certification and/or experience a plus. 
  • Experience with the development of Control Plans, Process Flow Charts, Key Process Variables, Capability Studies, and Measurement Systems Analysis a plus. 
  • Experience with Hazard Analysis & Critical Control Points (HACCP) or Product Stewardship Programs a plus. 
  • Understand document control processes, evaluate, improve, and design as necessary.  
  • Ability to read a tape measure. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to implement and monitor process controls to ensure actual production is maintained within the specified tolerance limits. 
  • A self-starter with the ability to use own initiative to evaluate, challenge, and change process, as needed, to create a more efficient, more positive environment and culture of continuous improvement. 
  • Ability to build strong and collaborative relationships with all levels of management, customers, and auditors. 
  • Proven versatility and flexibility - ability to deal with ambiguity, learn quickly, and adapt. 
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills with ability to manage priorities and workflow. 
  • Demonstrated ability to function in an environment of constant change and competing priorities.  
  • Excellent attention to detail and sense of urgency, ability to prioritize with an emphasis on quality of work.  
  • Proficient and strong technical writing ability in MS Office Applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, etc.). 
  • Ability to read and interpret CAD files and Print Cards. 
  • Ability to create and format documents, spreadsheets, and pivot tables.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF THE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 

Talking, hearing, and vision are required over 90% of the time. Standing and walking are required less than 95% of the time. Feeling is required 75% of the time, while pushing, pulling, sitting, twisting, and reaching is required about 50% of the time. Low levels of lifting (10 pounds or less) is required about 5% of the time, while medium levels of lifting and carrying (20 to 50 pounds) are required less than 5% of the time.
