We are seeking a skilled Python Developer with familiarity in Java to contribute to the development and maintenance of critical tools for processing and organizing large volumes of text data. This role focuses on building a robust, searchable rules engine and creating a user-friendly Graphical User Interface (GUI) for rule management, potentially utilizing web technologies.
Responsibilities:

• Rules Engine Development:
  • Design, develop, and implement Python-based components for a rules engine capable of processing and interpreting complex text-based rules.
  • Optimize the rules engine for performance and scalability to handle large datasets.
  • Implement efficient algorithms for searching and applying rules to incoming text.
  • Work with data structures and algorithms to handle complex text processing.
  • Potentially integrate python services with java based backends.
• GUI Development:
  • Develop and maintain a user-friendly GUI, potentially utilizing web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for front-end development.
  • Implement back-end API's using python to communicate with the front end.
  • Ensure the GUI is intuitive, responsive, and provides a seamless user experience.
  • Implement data visualization techniques to represent rule structures and relationships.
• Text Processing and Data Handling:
  • Develop Python scripts to ingest, parse, and transform large volumes of text data.
  • Implement data validation and cleaning processes to ensure data quality.
  • Utilize libraries such as NLTK, spaCy, or similar for natural language processing tasks.
  • Work with databases or other storage solutions to manage rules and text data.
• Collaboration and Development Practices:
  • Collaborate with team members to design and implement software solutions.
  • Write clean, well-documented, and testable code.
  • Participate in code reviews and contribute to improving development processes.
  • Use version control systems (e.g., Git) for code management.
  • Troubleshoot and debug issues.

Qualifications:

• Active TS/SCI CI Poly
• Proficient in Python programming.
• Familiarity with Java programming.
• Experience with GUI development, using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience developing Restful API's using python frameworks such as flask or Django.
• Strong understanding of data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with text processing and natural language processing (NLP) is a plus.
• Familiarity with database systems (e.g., SQL, NoSQL).
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Experience with building searchable systems.

The successful candidate's starting pay will fall within the salary range provided below and is determined based on job-related factors, including, but not limited to, the experience, qualifications, knowledge, skills, geographic work location, and market conditions. Candidates with the minimum necessary experience, qualifications, knowledge, and skillsets for the position should not expect to receive the upper end of the pay range.
• The base pay for this position within the Washington, DC metropolitan area is: $108,000.00 - $180,000.00 annually.
For all other states, we use geographic cost of labor as an input to develop market-driven ranges for our roles, and as such, each location where we hire may have a different range.
