Job Description Summary

This role manages profitability & delivery of new business in a province. The role is individually accountable for execution of sales strategy through other managers and their teams over a 1-2yr period. The successful incumbent should understand markets, economic and political opportunities in the province and be able to deal with environmental threats by managing and minimising risk.

It further manages all stakeholders in the provincial market, with a strong emphasis on relationship building and networking to rebuild and grow the business.  This candidate will also be responsible for building a high-performance culture in the province amongst employees, managing resources such as markets and technology in the province and managing support processes in province.

Job Description
This position has been identified as a FAIS position and falls within the ambit contemplated by FAIS, related to category B. the successful candidate must therefore comply with all FAIS requirements including the Fit and Proper requirements of Honesty and Integrity (ie. be clear of any offence related to fraud, dishonesty and / or any professional misconduct) as well as competence. Must have at least one year of management experience and oversight of a sales channel across various product categories.

Qualification, Skills and Experience required:

- Relevant business-related degree/qualification.

- FAIS compliant

- Minimum 10 years management experience (5 years in senior management) gained in a sales
  environment.

Directs the implementation and execution of sales strategies to optimise sales operations and administration and maximise the support provided to the sales team to enable successful sales.

ResponsibilitiesLeadership and Direction

Set and communicate the strategy, along with the broad actions needed to implement it, for achieving the organization's mission, vision, and values within a function; inspire a large or diverse workforce to commit to these tenets and do extraordinary things to achieve the organization's business goals.

Sales Opportunities Creation

Develop a personal network of senior executives within the business sector and at relevant advisory and regulatory bodies. Represent the organization at major business sector events. Obtain market intelligence, influence the agenda of sector leaders, promote the organization, and enhance its reputation.

Sell Customer Propositions

Review proposed high-value customer contracts to evaluate commercial risk; identify and resolve areas of concern and authorize sign-off.

Key Account Management

Manage a portfolio of key and strategic customer relationships either personally or through a medium- to large-sized team of account managers. Develop and execute tailored solutions and strategies for customers that ensure their ongoing satisfaction and loyalty while also enhancing profitability.

Business Planning

Develop and gain agreement to annual business plans for a function or substantial business area, ensuring alignment with strategy; quantify business outcomes, i.e., revenues or other key performance indicators (KPIs); detail expense and headcount budgets; and develop business cases for key projects, ensuring cross-functional integration.

Promoting Customer Focus

Lead and create an organization-wide customer orientation and develop the infrastructure for customer relationship building to place the customer at the center of the organization.

Customer Relationship Management / Account Management

Develop and implement a relationship management plan for strategic, complex, global existing accounts to build key relationships at local, national, and corporate levels. Coordinate the engagement of own organization with the customer organization to ensure effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues. Manage strategic client and customer relationships, typically by deploying large account teams to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction and loyalty toward the organization.

Performance Management

Manage and report on the performance of the function/business area; set appropriate performance objectives for direct reports and hold individuals accountable for achieving them; take appropriate corrective action where necessary to ensure the achievement of annual business objectives.

Customer Relationship Development / Prospecting

Develop and implement a relationship management plan for strategic, complex, global potential accounts to build key relationships at local, national, and corporate levels. Coordinate the engagement of own organization with the customer organization to ensure effective two-way flow of information and resolution of issues.

Budgeting

Take responsibility for setting and managing area budgets so they align with organizational strategy.

Organizational Capability Building

Identify the capabilities needed to meet the current and emerging business needs of a significant business area. Evaluate current capabilities, identify gaps, and prioritize development activities. Motivate others to develop their capabilities and fulfill their personal potential. Build capabilities elsewhere in the organization through mentoring and other informal methods.
