The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated immunologist to join the Odyssey team at our Boston site.  As a project lead, you will have responsibility in crafting drug discovery project plans from inception through to early clinical development and oversee a multidisciplinary drug discovery team to efficiently execute on the plan in line with Odyssey’s goals.  At Odyssey, project team leaders work closely and collaboratively with senior management to make decisions rapidly and achieve success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the generation, evolution, and execution of research operating plans for drug discovery programs, including resource planning, risk assessment and contingency planning
  • Oversee a multidisciplinary team, taking responsibility for timely delivery on project goals
  • Ensure cross-functional alignment and organizational support for execution of the operational plan
  • Challenge assumptions, timelines, pressure test plans, create alternative scenarios to enable strategic and operational agility
  • Identify bottlenecks, surface issues, proactively drive resolution, and lead contingency planning efforts
  • Drive decision-making within a project team to deliver the highest value in shortest time
  • Encourage out-of-box thinking and creative problem resolution
  • Drive the application of leading immunological methods and approaches to understand disease mechanisms and therapeutic interventions
  • Collaborate with clinical teams to design and implement translational research strategies
  • Communicate proactively with senior management
  • Represent the program internally and externally with prospective partners and at scientific meetings and conferences

About You

  • Doctoral degree in immunology or related discipline
  • Greater than ten years of experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry, with at least seven years as a cross-functional team leader
  • A proven record of scientific accomplishment demonstrated by publications in peer-reviewed journals and leadership of programs that have entered clinical development in the immunology field
  • Broad and deep understanding of drug discovery and development
  • Ability to lead projects from hit-finding through candidate selection, as well as contribute to the validation of new targets
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex scientific problems and push the boundaries of innovation
  • Analyze data critically and guide teams to make informed decisions
  • Critically and objectively interpret and evaluate competitive, business-related information
  • Possess excellent time management and strong communication skills
  • Ability to scientifically challenge others in a constructive manner
  • Inspire, motivate, and mentor team members across the organization
