Job Description
BAE Systems is seeking an enthusiastic, well-organized planning specialist to join our team of engineers, technologists, and military veterans. The position is located at the Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) in Wallops Island, VA. The SCSC is located on a barrier island on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and is a tenant of the NASA's Wallops Flight Facility. SCSC provides live combat systems suites with platform specific radars and sensors and supports the following functions: combat system lifetime support engineering, platform certification, operational and technical evaluation, combat system training, interoperability testing and participates in at-sea exercises. SCSC provides a high-fidelity representative combat system of every ship in the AEGIS, Ship Self Defense System (SSDS) fleet today and those planned in the future.
This position will be responsible for developing/maintaining project schedules, arranging meetings, and submitting scheduling requests for customer testing. The successful candidate will advance the planning practices of the organization to include evaluation and inclusion of risks and opportunities, resource planning, metrics and reporting of scheduling progress. This position requires on-site work, limited telework availability.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Develop, maintain and status project schedules as well as an integrated master schedule
- Develop and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project baselines
- Allocate resources for all Level of Effort (LOE) scheduling activities
- Provide critical path analysis and create "what if" scenarios
- Provide recommendations to leadership to achieve scheduling targets
- Facilitate scheduling discussions to create and update project schedules
- Assist technical experts establish milestones and provide support to monitor adherence to the master schedule by identifying programmatic problems and providing recommended solutions
- Foster scheduling best practices by developing and presenting training while at the same time promote the best-fit practices for our environment
- Recommend and participate in scheduling process improvement discussions
- Adhere to established scheduling documentation, processes, and work instructions
- Support the BAE Systems Program Management Office to achieve or exceed business objectives
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite of products
- Continuously learn new skills and educate others
- Experience with project management/scheduling activities
- Exceptional attention to detail
- Communicate in a professional business atmosphere, both virtually and in person
- Must adhere to company policies regarding accurate and timely time keeping and corporate responsibility code of conduct
- Exceptional time management and organizational skills
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Project Management Institute (PMI) certification (CAPM, PMP, etc.) or able to obtain within 1 year of start date
- Background in Business Operations/Administration
- Experience using Primavera P6 or other industry standard project management tool
- Experience in using Microsoft Teams/SharePoint or Project Server Environment
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $50268 - $85455
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
