The PositionProject Engineer
Job Summary
Imerys has launched a lithium mining project (the EMILI Project) at its Beauvoir site in Echassières (Allier, France). The EMILI Project schedule foresees production starting in 2028, with a production target of 34,000 tonnes of lithium hydroxide per year for at least 25 years.
The overall schedule states that by 2023 the preliminary mine design will be completed as well as the overall process validated and tested at the lab scale (several pilot plants are scheduled for Q2-Q3 2023). By 2024 the deposit will be characterized in detail and the construction of the industrial/demo pilot plant will commence. 2025 sees the commissioning of the industrial/demo pilot plant. The opening of the mine and commissioning of the commercial plant is scheduled by 2028.
The projected timetable will be reassessed at each stage of the project, in particular based on the results of the environmental impact assessments and stakeholder consultations.
Job Objective
As part of the Project Management office and reporting to the Industrial Project Manager:
- Contribute to the design of the EMILI Process Plants, and ensure our consultants are delivering on time
- Lead critical cross-functional Project activities, on an ad-hoc basis,

KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Missions of the Project Management Office:
- Collaborate with other department leaders to define, prioritize, and develop projects.
- Plan project management, including setting deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and assigning team members to various deliverables.
- Analyze financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resources allocation.
- In collaboration with the Financial Controller, provide financial reports and budget outlines to Executives
- Oversee the development of the Project and ensure that team members are carrying out their tasks efficiently while upholding the company's standards.
- Draft new and improve existing project management office policies and processes.
- Continuously evaluate projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budgets, and meeting deadlines.
- Accurately document the project's creation, development, and execution as well as document the project's scope, budget, and justification.
- Endorse the role of cross-functional Project Manager for untapped critical activities to the Project
Key tasks and responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Support Project Manager to manage Engineering Consultants to deliver products on schedule
- Participate in Engineering discussions (both internal and external)
- Complete engineering reviews of submitted documentation
- Coordinate reviews between various Imerys teams
- Assist Project Manager to report progress, status and upcoming activities
- Support Procurement Activities
Education and Experience requirements:
Qualifications:
Bs, BEng or B.Tech in Engineering or National Diploma.
Around 10 ans years of progressive experience in the execution of project management or engineering management for capital projects in an industrial environment. Experience in the chemicals or metals industries is preferred.
