Job Description
Join our growing team in Seattle as a Project Cost Accountant! This role offers a unique opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders across different departments and gain exposure to high-impact projects and leadership within KPFF. You will enjoy independence and autonomy in this position while working in a stable environment with a supportive accounting team.
You will drive KPFF's long-term growth by ensuring precise project cost management and championing continuous improvement. Your ability to take initiative and identify trends and patterns in data will be critical in solving complex problems, revealing opportunities for enhancement and growth.

What You’ll Be Doing
Monthly Project Cost Accounting
- Create client invoices and work closely with Project Managers to review project data and monthly invoices from other teams.
- Become the subject matter expert in BST 10, KPFF’s ERP system, leveraging it for efficient project cost management.
- Ensure timely invoicing and follow-up on receivables, overseeing collections efforts with proactive problem-solving.
- Monitor and reconcile project costs, diligently tracking contract and project information to identify patterns and potential issues.
Financial & Data Review
- Develop and provide innovative metrics to enhance project manager insights and visibility, fostering continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and corporate accounting practices, maintaining high standards of financial integrity.
Collaboration and Training
- Collaborate with leadership on strategic financial initiatives and provide data-driven insights to support decision-making.
- Work with the finance team to effectively present financial information and data.
- Create and edit training documentation for BST 10 and accounting best practices to support continuous learning.
- Execute projects to streamline and innovate financial processes and promote efficiency.
- Provide training and support to project teams on financial best practices and processes, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.
Qualifications
- 3 - 8 years of experience in accounting or a related field
- Associate or bachelor’s degree with a foundation in financial principles and accounting practices.
- Strong analytical skills and ability to identify trends and opportunities for improvement.
- Experience working in a cross-functional team environment.
- Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word for data analysis and communication.
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative, identify opportunities for process improvement, and implement effective solutions.
- Ability to work well with various stakeholders, fostering positive relationships and collaboration.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects and tasks simultaneously while maintaining high quality.
- Proactively solve problems by leveraging strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
- Maintain professionalism by handling sensitive information with discretion and integrity.
- Ability to thrive independently and in teams, showcasing adaptability and initiative in fast-paced environments.
- Experience in an engineering firm with BST10 software is a plus.
Additional Information
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Duties are typically performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table
- Ability to actively engage with a computer for several hours per day and communicate over the telephone or virtual meeting platforms.
- May occasionally need to lift items up to 15 lbs.
- Work in the downtown Seattle office up to 5 days/week, with flexible work hours between 7 am and 5 pm

Compensation:
The base salary for this role is competitive and will be determined based on the candidate's experience, education, and skills. The expected range for a qualified candidate with 3 - 8 years of experience is $75,000 to $90,000. Additionally, we offer performance-based bonuses to recognize and reward outstanding contributions in each Reporting Center. During the interview process, we'll provide detailed information and address any questions you may have about the overall compensation package and benefits.
