The Programme Manager will be responsible for supporting the Programme Director in delivering a two-year strategic programme of critical importance to JD Sports. Serving as a permanent anchor in a complex supplier ecosystems, the Programme Manager will ensure robust governance, consistent documentation, and the retention of corporate memory throughout all programme phases—initiation, planning, execution, and closure as well as interfacing with best practice into group technology and group transformation to enable knowledge transfer and best practice.

What You'll Be Doing:

Key Responsibilities

Programme Governance & Reporting

  • Deputise for Programme Director as required
  • Establish and maintain programme governance frameworks, including stage gates, reporting schedules, and approval processes.
  • Coordinate and produce regular programme status reports and dashboards for executive stakeholders and support creation and update of key papers as and when required.

2. Planning & Coordination

  • Quality assurance of the integrated ITGC transformation programme plan
  • Monitor the critical path and dependencies, escalating potential risks/issues to the Programme Director in a timely manner.
  • Manage a heatmap overview of transformation programme outcomes which incorporate group and fascia activity as needed to demonstrate control remediation

3. Risk & Issue Management

  • Identify, log, and track risks, issues, assumptions, and dependencies (RAID) from a BAU perspective that may impact on delivery
  • Devise risk mitigation plans, communicate them to stakeholders, and follow through on resolution actions.

What We're Looking For:

Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years of proven success in programme/project management roles on complex, multi-year initiatives.
  • Proficiency in recognised programme/project management methodologies (MSP, Prince2, Agile, etc.).
  • Demonstrated ability to establish governance structures and manage large stakeholder groups in a dynamic environment.
  • Governance & Oversight: Skilled in setting up and running boards, steering groups, and reporting cycles.
  • Risk Management: Strong track record of identifying and mitigating risks on high-value programmes.
  • Financial Acumen: Experience with budget creation, forecast management, and cost tracking.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, able to tailor messages to diverse audiences (executives, technical teams, vendors).
  • Collaboration & Team Leadership: Ability to collaborate with and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including contractors/consultants.
  • Organisational Savvy: Strong awareness of how to navigate large organisations, building relationships that support programme delivery.
