This position is for a Program Specialist within the ICS IT Division of Caterpillar IT responsible for portfolio management. In this position, you will be managing $30m in departmental spend and $60m in Caterpillar IT consumption charges and approximately $5 - $10 million spend annually in IT project related activities.
Job Summary:
In this role you will work with (5) IT Engagement Mangers to manage the yearly process of cost creation and the monthly process of cost management. Will work with managers, Caterpillar IT and suppliers to align resources and collect cost to ensure cost management of IT projects throughout the year. Will also work with key business resource managers to rollup, communicate and identify opportunities for cost and to forward project on-going IT costs out multiple years based on IT strategic roadmap.
What You Will Do:

  • Manage and monitor the collection and reporting of departmental expenses
  • Manage and monitor the collection and reporting of Caterpillar IT consumption charges
  • Track and manage the explanation of monthly changes within departments, Caterpillar IT consumption and P&L with managers, senior leaders and business partners
  • Drive projects and processes to control IT costs and to project out future year IT costs based on current projects and IT strategic roadmap
  • Provide support to managers and staff for the Caterpillar IT demand management process
  • Provide support for the creation and management of purchase requests and purchase orders
  • Provide support for the creation and management of time reporting for IT projects
  • Work with managers in the development of business cases and value generation enabled by IT projects within ICS IT


What You Will Have:
Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
Technology Advising : Knowledge of effective advisory methods and ability to provide valued information and advice to clients regarding products, technologies, services and solutions for a specific technology domain.
Application Design, Architecture: Knowledge of basic activities and deliverables of application design; ability to utilize application design methodologies, tools and techniques to convert business requirements and logical models into a technical application design.
Requirements Analysis: Knowledge of tools, methods, and techniques of requirement analysis; ability to elicit, analyze and record required business functionality and non-functionality requirements to ensure the success of a system or software development project.
System and Technology Integration: Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems; ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms.
System Testing: Knowledge of system and software testing; ability to design, plan and execute system testing strategies and tactics to ensure the quality of software at all stages of the system life cycle.
Systems Software Infrastructure: Knowledge of computer architecture and system software interaction; ability to design and build a fundamental architecture of operating systems, database management systems, communications protocols, compilers and other development tools.
Technical Troubleshooting: Knowledge of technical troubleshooting approaches, tools and techniques; ability to anticipate, recognize, and resolve technical issues on hardware, software, application or operation.

Summary Pay Range:
$126,000.00 - $204,720.00
Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
