Summary

As The Product Manager - Reader Experience, you will be responsible for continuous improvement of Inquirer.com and our mobile apps, focused on outcomes for our audiences. You'll take a holistic view of the customer journey, working alongside product managers for storytelling and tools, service and sports, revenue, and data and APIs. You'll work with our journalists, marketers, engineers, agile practitioners and product designers and researchers to serve Philadelphians, resulting in audience growth, return visits and deep engagement.

What You'll Do

  • Advocate passionately for Philadelphians' news and information needs,
finding creative ways to meet people where they are with
products that respect their time and attention.
  • Lead cross-functional delivery squads - composed of designers,
engineers, project managers, reporters and other stakeholders - to
build and iterate over new products and features, resulting in changes
to customer behavior that drive business results.
  • Manage the prioritization of engineering work across web
and native mobile platforms, clearly articulating desired outcomes
    and how we'll measure success.
  • Translate feature ideas into actionable product
    requirements and user stories.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, competitive products
and new capabilities to inform your product roadmaps.
  • Contribute to grant proposals and status reporting for our
    philanthropic funders.

Who We're Looking For

  • 3+ years of experience as a product manager for digital applications
or in a product-adjacent audience-focused role. Experience with news
    is a big plus.
  • Experience analyzing customer feedback, user research and
performance data to guide product feature development.
  • Working knowledge of Agile methodologies, process and
principles, particularly when they're useful and when you may
    want to deviate from them.
  • Strong communication, creative problem-solving
    and collaborative skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels within an organization,
including executive and C-level. Ability to work well in a
dynamic group environment and under deadline pressures.
  • A tireless belief in the value of local journalism and a desire to
support The Inquirer's mission to be the indispensable source of
local news and information serving the diverse communities of the Philadelphia region.
