The Role: Commercial/ Product Manager

A key role of the Propositions team with the Individual Life & Pensions (IL&P) Business Unit is to make sure that our existing propositions remain appropriate for their target market and deliver the promised outcomes throughout the lifetime of the customer relationship. In order to do that we need to understand and deliver all product promises to customers in line with legislative and regulatory requirements.

We are seeking a high performing product/commercial manager, with experience of managing and reviewing existing propositions, to support our Annual Value Assessment work. The Annual Value Assessment is complementary to our existing Product Review Process by annually evaluating the fairness of charges for relevant products in relation to the overall benefits received.

This is a great opportunity to play a key role in supporting our existing customers by assessing and reviewing that they are achieving good outcomes and ensuring regulatory expectations are being met.

You will be part of the Conduct & Enablement Team which is responsible for ensuring that our existing Propositions are operating within M&G’s Conduct Risk appetite, including responsibility for the design and delivery of product assessment activities across our existing Propositions.

You will also support other key strategic projects, while also being involved in the completion of proposition reviews and supporting other activities.
 

Key Responsibilities for this role

  • In conjunction with colleagues/SME’s, take the lead in the preparation and completion of the Annual Value Assessment work for existing IL&P products.
  • Undertaking analysis on a range of product-related data and insight, using your product experience to interpret information, and present this in a way that informs the end reader.
  • Presenting relevant assessment findings clearly and succinctly, and drafting value for money documentation for managerial review.
  • Providing written and oral briefings to managers and other staff.
  • Preparing and completing product reviews in line with the existing review schedule and methodology.
  • Reporting on gaps or issues that have been identified in order to ensure delivery of good customer and business outcomes.
  • Identifying and proposing enhancements or actions to ensure good customer outcomes.

Key Skills and Experience Required:

  • Strong level of knowledge of the life, pensions or broader asset management investment products.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of the regulatory environment including, but not limited to, the FCA’s Consumer Duty.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with business units and project teams
  • Strong influence and negotiating skills with an ability to manage a variety of stakeholders.
  • Good report writing skills so that key messages are understood.
  • Good planning and organisational skills to be able to handle multiple priorities.
