The Role
As a Product Manager for Observability at Observe, you'll lead product strategy and road mapping, focusing on enhancing user experience for monitoring and optimizing operational telemetry. You'll collaborate with engineering and sales, gather user feedback, and stay informed about industry trends to drive product direction and ensure successful feature adoption.
Summary Generated by Built In

Observe is redefining how companies manage operational telemetry data (logs, metrics, traces, etc.) generated by modern distributed applications. Traditional logging, monitoring, and APM tools are often too complex, leading to excessive costs and lengthy incident resolution times. Many solutions fall short because the necessary data is either too costly to retain or too cumbersome to access. Observe changes the game, offering a single observability platform for all telemetry data, built on a cloud-native data warehouse that delivers unmatched scale and cost efficiency. No filtering, no sampling—just comprehensive, uncompromised observability.

As a Product Manager for Observability, you will play a pivotal role in delivering core product experiences that empower customers to monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize their software applications using operational telemetry. You’ll be the voice of the customer, collaborating with engineering, sales, and company leadership to shape the product roadmap, prioritize features, and deliver solutions that enable seamless observability. Your work will help customers transform complex data into actionable insights, leading to higher system uptime, fewer incidents, and improved user satisfaction.

Note: This is an in-person role out of our San Mateo, CA office.

What you'll do

  • Shape the Roadmap: Define and prioritize the roadmap for key capabilities such as alerting, dashboarding, search, and analytics. Work to ensure successful feature adoption and a seamless user experience.
  • Champion the User: Develop a deep understanding of customer needs, including software developers and site reliability engineers (SREs). Translate these insights into intuitive and delightful product experiences.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Partner closely with engineering throughout the product development lifecycle, from defining requirements and tracking delivery to overseeing feature releases and sunsetting.
  • Support Go-to-Market Initiatives: Work with marketing and sales to communicate new features and enhancements. Develop training materials, release notes, and support documentation.
  • Leverage User Feedback: Gather and represent user feedback to inform engineering priorities, providing data-backed recommendations for tradeoffs and product improvements.
  • Track Market Trends: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor offerings, and emerging technologies. Share these insights with the team to guide product direction and differentiation.
  • Optimize Business Models: Contribute to decisions on go-to-market strategies, including pricing, packaging, licensing, and product tiering.

  • Customer-Centric Mindset: You are passionate about solving customer problems and designing user-friendly experiences.
  • Proactive and Driven: You thrive in fast-paced startup environments, taking ownership and driving initiatives forward.

What We Do

Observe was founded by Sutter Hill Ventures in November 2017. Our founding team came from leading Enterprise SaaS and software companies that work with vast quantities of data such as Snowflake, Splunk and Wavefront.

Our founding thesis was that the enterprises are data rich, but information poor. Data is siloed making it difficult to understand what’s going on inside applications and infrastructure. The result is often a poor customer experience and wasted engineering time tracking down incidents. Oh, and it costs a fortune.

Observe discerns why applications and infrastructure are running the way they are from the data they emit. We enable engineers to spend more time coding features and less time investigating incidents. We reduce outages and issues with customer experience. And we leverage an elastic cloud architecture so that you only pay for what you use.
