Academic Year Recruitment Timeline :
April 21 - May 9: Applications Open (may close early due to applicant volume)
Early May - Mid June: First round video interviews
Mid June - Mid July: Second round interviews
Throughout July: Selected candidates receive offers
Academic Year Internship Program:

Operations & Technology: (O&T) is a $1B operating cash flow ($1.5B FCF) division of NBCUniversal. The group functions as a global shared service within NBCUniversal performing critical functions including Media, Broadcast and Studio Operations & Production, Content Supply Chain, Information Technology and Engineering, as well as Cyber Security. The group operates from numerous locations around the world, including New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Denver, Connecticut, and London.

Areas of placement may include, but are not limited to:

  • O&T, Data & Legal Solutions Product Management: The Data & Legal Solutions (DLS) team partners with all NBCU businesses to deliver exceptional data-driven solutions. Our goal is to enhance our company's competitive advantage in the dynamic media landscape while managing risk and protecting the business. This position will be on the Product team in DLS, which is a key vertical supporting Consumer Data, Consumer Protection, Compliance, and Legal back-office Products. While DLS is 50+ members, Product is a 5-person team comprised of Product Managers, Product Owners, and Analysts who partner closely with Privacy & Legal Operations, O&T Engineering, Tech Strategy, External Vendors, and Business Teams to deliver regulatory compliant product features and updates. Our day-to-day includes managing a very demanding and tight turnaround delivery Product Roadmap, maintaining the ongoing Product, and ensuring all 2k+ business users have a good user experience that supports business objectives and meets regulatory compliance. It is a particularly challenging team given that we cover compliance across multiple jurisdictions and perform in an ever-evolving regulatory environment.


  • O&T, News Production Strategy: NBCU News Group Product & Strategy comprises of Product, Project, Design, and Developer teams owning programs to advance an internal portfolio of systems, applications, and vendor relationships. The Academic Year Intern will focus on several key areas for growth and productivity in the News Group, such as helping expand current internal portfolio of applications across other linear, digital, and streaming news verticals. The intern will also assist in building dynamic relationships with best-in-class vendors to pilot emerging (AI/ML, automation) technologies. The intern will also support roadmap on a number of critical projects.


  • O&T, Telemundo Tech: We are innovators in Unified Production Platform Product & Program Management! The intern will be serving as a project owner for 2 major LRPs within the NBCU Local portfolio, In-Studio Virtual Reality / Augmented Reality (VR/AR) Set Design & Windows 11 deployments. In the VR/AR project, the intern will lead a group of engineers to oversee the design and schedule of this new product to create and develop an MVP model for Enterprise rollout across the newly crafted NBCU Local, Telemundo, and News technology organization that has a $1.2M enabled savings per set. For Windows 11, this intern will own the station engagement of hardware install of ~350 devices across 28 rooftop production control rooms and software upgrades for 10 key production software that will also require precise scheduling across station leadership, Denver Hub Operations, and Local Engineering to schedule change windows for upgrades and ensure change management is in place for ~2500 end-users. This intern will also be a key player in expanding the Agile Portfolio Management of NBCU Local beyond its Media Technology group. This is an exciting and critical component of modernizing our Local/News broadcast business. The intern will be hands-on with Portfolio Management, Agile Scrum-leadership, Scoping & requirements gathering, Project Management, Product Managment, and Cross-Business collaboration.


  • Media Group, Global Streaming Technology - Syndication: The Syndication group within Global Streaming Technology is an integral part of harnessing relationships with our international streaming partners and driving delivery of vast roadmaps of cutting each feature. We enable success of our global streaming platforms by engaging with business stakeholders to define roadmaps, lead cross-functional collaboration to deliver innovative solutions, and thrive on continuous improvements in our processes and tooling. This role will focus on defining and implementing improvements across the Syndication operating model based on analysis and feedback with key stakeholders. This will include process and governance optimizations across Global Streaming and our partners, implementing strategic efficiencies across our teams utilizing collaborative tooling, and implementing data driven solutions to drive key performance results.


  • Media Group, Peacock Global Delivery: The Global Delivery team collaborates with business, product, and developer teams to orchestrate end-to-end planning and delivery of product and technology features for the Peacock application and other global Direct-to-Consumer applications. In this role, interns assist Project and Program Managers in coordinating efforts within the Customer Experience Team and across the Global Streaming Technology stack. You'll work across our dynamic portfolio, including Peacock, NOW, SkyShowtime, and Showmax, powering streaming across more than 70 countries globally. With an unequaled scale, our teams make the most of every opportunity to collaborate and learn from one another. We're always looking for ways to innovate faster, accelerate our growth, and consistently offer the best consumer experience. Our interns gain exposure to the software development lifecycle, working alongside Product Managers, UI/UX designers, Editors, QAs, Data, Operations, and Engineering teams. Interns contribute to enhancing the Peacock user experience by supporting feature development, optimizing content engagement, and improving user experiences during video playback.


  • Media Group, Global Commerce - Product Management: As a Product Intern on the Global Commerce team, you will have the opportunity to manage products and features that merchandise the product offering and enable new-subscriber sign-ups. You will have the opportunity to collaborate with other Product, Engineering, Design and Marketing teams focused on building products and merchandising moments on Connected TVs, mobile devices and web. The intern will get to assist in defining product requirements and user stories for merchandising and sign-up flows, collaborate with Design, Marketing, and Engineering to define and design enhancements to customer-facing features, support Product Managers in roadmap planning and execution, and communicate updates and insights to internal stakeholders.


Qualifications
Basic Requirements:

  • Must be actively enrolled in a degree-granting program at an accredited institution during the entire duration of the program (September 2025 through April 2026). December 2025 graduates are not eligible for our 2025-2026 Academic Year Internship Program.
  • Current class standing of sophomore or above (30 credits).
  • Must be presently authorized to work for any employer in the United States and must not require work visa sponsorship from NBCUniversal now or in the future to retain authorization to work in the United States.
  • Must be available to work 16-24 hours per week from September 15, 2025 - April 17, 2026.
  • Must be willing to work in New York, NY.


For further clarification, candidates currently on any student or exchange visa (e.g. F-1 CPT, F-1 OPT, J-1, M-1) are not eligible to apply unless they will be able to change or adjust to another status that grants work authorization without NBCUniversal sponsorship.

Desired Characteristics:

  • Students with class standing of junior or above preferred.
  • Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.
  • Previous technical, data, or product work experience preferred.
  • Strong MS Office skills.
  • Some knowledge of the software development lifecycle, software delivery principles, and agile methodologies is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Project Management Software: Proficiency in using project management tools such as Confluence, JIRA, and Smartsheet, or a willingness to quickly learn and adapt to these tools.
  • Excel and PowerPoint basics.
  • Experience in Operations or Live News/Sports production.
  • Experience with requirements gathering.
  • Interest in Streaming technology and direct-to-consumer media.
  • Coursework or extracurriculars in Product Management, Engineering, UX or Design is a plus.


The hourly rate for undergraduate student interns is $30.00
The hourly rate range for graduate student interns is $30.00 - $35.00
