The Role
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Product Development Engineer to join our Appliances Dimensional System team. This role is crucial in ensuring that all appliance components and systems meet dimensional and geometric requirements. The successful candidate will perform drawing analysis, ensure accurate Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) practices, and execute tolerance stack-up analysis to guarantee that products meet the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drawing Analysis: Conduct in-depth analysis of engineering drawings to ensure design intent is met and identify any discrepancies.
- GD&T Confirmation: Review and confirm the proper application of GD&T across product designs to ensure dimensional accuracy and functionality.
- Dimension Confirmation: Validate critical dimensions across components and assemblies, ensuring alignment with design specifications.
- Tolerance Stack-Up Analysis: Perform tolerance stack-up analysis to evaluate the cumulative effect of part tolerances on final product assemblies, identifying potential risks or issues early in the design process.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product designers, mechanical engineers, and quality assurance teams to resolve dimensional and tolerance issues and ensure design feasibility.
- Documentation: Maintain clear and detailed records of analyses, revisions, and results, providing thorough reports to stakeholders.
- Process Improvement: Continuously seek opportunities to improve design practices related to dimensional systems, including proposing new tools or methodologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience in dimensional engineering, GD&T, and tolerance analysis within the home appliances or manufacturing industry.
- Strong understanding of CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent) with the ability to interpret and analyze complex drawings.
- Proficiency in GD&T principles and practical application to ensure precision in product design.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Experience with tolerance stack-up analysis tools and methodologies.
