We’re seeking a Design Manager with hands-on product and service design expertise to lead one of our product areas and create extraordinary customer experiences.

WHAT YOU'LL DO 🚀
- Lead and inspire the talented channels design team in the product organization to deliver human-centric designs that align with business objectives.
- Report directly to the head of product design and collaborate closely with the head of product.
- Coach product designers to de-risk strategic experience opportunities with high uncertainty.
- Work closely with product, design, marketing, and research peers to prioritize and manage research programs.
- Manage strategic research and discovery initiatives that span the entire product area, possibly the entire product.
- Lead the end-to-end design process, from value detection, discovery, and ideation to implementation and delivery.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, researchers, and other stakeholders in a matrix organization to co-create a shared experience vision and strategy.
- Champion design best practices and ensure high-quality outputs that meet user needs and drive business impact.
- Nurture a culture of innovation, creativity, and collaboration within your team and across the organization.
- Balance strategic thinking with hands-on design contributions to mentor your team and share your knowledge when needed.

Value proposition design
- Utilize strategic frameworks (like the Value Proposition Canvas) to pinpoint customer pains, gains, and jobs-to-be-done, ensuring products address customer needs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional partners (e.g., Product, Marketing, Support) to refine messaging and positioning, aligning value propositions with both market opportunities and user insights.
- Continuously iterate and validate proposed value propositions through rapid prototyping, user interviews, and market feedback loops—minimizing risk and maximizing product impact.
Domain Knowledge & Product sense
- Learn and understand Manychat's product, the market, and customers’ ambitions to guide design choices.
- Use internal tools, documentation, APIs, and workflows to build effective experiences, including channel integrations.
- Look beyond the immediate requirements—tackle complex challenges by creating practical and innovative customer-focused solutions.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING 💥
- A strong portfolio showcasing your leadership and design expertise.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in design with 10 years of work experience in a related field.
- Experience in nurturing and coaching designers for professional growth.
- Proven experience leading and managing remote/hybrid design teams successfully in tech start-ups and scale-up contexts.
- Experience working with contemporary design and UX research tooling.
- Experience managing organizational change with cross-functional peers.
- A track record of shipping design work successfully moving from strategy and concept to launch, delivering measurable results that are aligned with the product experience strategy.
- Deep understanding of human-centered design processes and methodologies, with the ability to mentor and coach teams in applying them effectively.
- Familiarity with working in a matrix organization, aligning multiple stakeholders.
- Exceptional communication and storytelling skills to articulate strategic design decisions and lead a culture of innovation.
Nice to have
- Solid understanding of computational principles (e.g., data structures), automation concepts, and automation workflows.
- Experience designing easy-to-use products that simplify the workflows of complex automation processes.
