Process Engineer
Location: Salem, OR

As a Process Engineer, you will be part of a great team of Operations team, and you will be in charge of developing innovative solutions and new approaches to engineering problems to determine the sequence of steps or processes required to fabricate and assemble products that meet the organization's standards of quality and cost.
Your role will be:
- Executing projects (establish and meet budget and schedule, supervise construction, train personnel, supervise start-up, coordination with QC/QA, safety, health, environmental, and maintenance) up to $5M or be a member of a project team that executes projects.
- Providing technical support/expertise to the plant safety professional on facility safety initiatives when designing and/or redesigning work processes to eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.
- Lead projects up to $3-5M and direct project contractors and consultants.
- Design and implement capital permits, projects, and engineering studies as assigned to support Operations goals.
- Manage projects within budget, delivering targeted return on investment in compliance with Ingredion’s ethics, safety, and engineering standards.
- Identify, develop, and initiate capital projects with an implementation date of one to two years in duration. Support the development and upkeep of the plant's 5-year capital plan.
- Demonstrate that completed projects meet the design objectives and ensure that maintenance, operation, safety, and training documentation is up to date when projects are completed.
- Monitor plant processes for use of manufacturing supplies and utilities.
- Implement systems and programs that maintain or exceed quality and production goals while minimizing supply costs.
- Represent Ingredion operations to 3rd party agencies and customer auditors.
- Provide technical support to maintenance and operations groups including process studies, troubleshooting, process optimization, and maintenance of historical data to identify, monitor, and control key operating parameters.
- Lead plant efforts in continuous improvement of the process through process optimization, training, and maintaining the department’s technical proficiencies.
- Identify opportunities to streamline operations to increase output, reduce waste, and lower costs.
- Work within the plant leadership team to develop a strategy for continuous improvement of safety culture and becoming an injury-free workplace.
- Collaborate and support Ingredion 2030 Safety and Sustainability initiatives and platform.
- Implement the Ingredion Performance System (IPS) reliability pillar objectives by utilizing the management system to effectively implement and sustain best operating practices with our teams to achieve the highest level of efficiency to improve Operational performance in a sustainable way.
- Management of Change (MOC) - Responsible for maintaining the program to provide an environmental, safety, health, quality, and regulatory impact review of facility modifications during initial planning and after completion.
- Keep current in discipline; assess new technologies and ideas; develop, evaluate, and seek approval for new concepts to improve the efficiency and capability of the process, the life and safety of the facility, and improve product quality.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively in a team environment, build consensus, and foster relationships at multiple organizational levels and across different organizational functions.
Your profile needs these qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred)
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Knowledge and understanding of manufacturing processes and systems involved in its operation such as basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical and physical/chemical separations, evaporation, drying, material handling, controls systems, GMP, and energy management.
- Experience in industries such as food, chemical, biochemical, or pharmaceutical, with substantial experience in engineering or operations, preferred.
You’ll need these skills to be successful
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present technical information and prepare concisely written reports, document process and operational procedures, and complete the required engineering documentation including P&ID development for new and/or modified equipment and processes.
- Demonstrated a high degree of sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation in handling complex technical assignments, with minimal supervision

Pay Range:
$78,700.00-$104,966.67 Annual
This pay range is not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Final base salary will be determined based on several factors which may include but are not limited to responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data and applicable bargaining agreement (if any).
Incentive Compensation:
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Ingredion Annual Incentive Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus.
