Global Product Strategy:
Global Product Strategy is focused on designing flagship, category-killing products that deliver Blackstone’s investment capabilities, redefining the accessibility of alternatives for private wealth clients. As a member of the team, the individual will be responsible for driving the design and end-to-end development of new funds. The ideal candidate will be creative and passionate about researching and creating innovative product structures and solutions to unlock new markets and distribution channels.
The team provides domain knowledge and expertise on investments, performance, market dynamics and competitors. Global Product Strategy has key internal and external stakeholders, including Blackstone investment teams, PWS sales professionals, banking teams, financial advisors, and clients.
Job Description:
The Japan Product Strategist will focus on product development, supporting PWS initiatives mainly in Japan.
Primary job responsibilities will include:
- Driving and supporting the development of Blackstone’s PWS business in Japan by creating products that are relevant to the local client base.
- Developing domestic and international structures/solutions mindful of appropriate regulatory frameworks and constraints.
- Playing a significant role interfacing with members of the firm’s global PWS group across all Blackstone investment funds, legal/compliance department, finance and other groups within the firm.
- Conduct research on product structures, regulatory developments and competitor fund launches to help identify scale opportunities.
- Work with internal Blackstone teams on the full scope of product development, including the buildout of operations, technology, marketing and finance.
Qualifications:
Blackstone seeks to hire individuals who work well in a team-driven working group, are highly motivated, intelligent, have sound judgment and have demonstrated excellence in prior endeavors.
The successful candidate must have:
- 5-7 years’ relevant work experience
- Deep knowledge of fund structuring and regulations
- Relevant product development experience in asset management industry
- Knowledge of alternative funds and strategies
- A high level of attention to detail
- Native level communication skills (spoken and written) in Japanese and good business level in English
- Great presentation skills
- A desire to work in a team environment, often against competing deadlines
- Experience in project management and if the experience is across global/NY-based teams
- Strong Excel and PowerPoint skills
