Role Overview

Access Holdings is seeking outstanding candidates for the role of Value Creation Data Scientist.  The position holder will creatively use data to enhance decision-making processes and drive actionable insight across the entire investing lifecycle.  He/she will work closely with other value creation and deal team professionals and portfolio company management teams to extract value from data, develop predictive models, and drive digital transformation initiatives.

This position will be based out of our offices in Baltimore, MD or New York, NY.  Remote candidates may be considered.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop predictive models and analytical tools to inform investment decisions and drive value creation initiatives
  • Execute and enhance Access’ data-driven approach to evaluate markets, prioritize targets, and develop winning strategic plans
  • Collaborate with portfolio company management teams to implement data-driven strategies for revenue growth, operational improvement, and high-velocity M&A
  • Design and implement data visualization dashboards and reports to communicate key insights and performance metrics to stakeholders
  • Monitor and evaluate portfolio company performance using a data-driven approach, identifying areas for improvement and optimization
  • Develop and drive critical data transformation initiatives for portfolio companies, in partnership with other value creation professionals and portfolio company executives
  • Own internal initiatives to build and enhance Access’ value creation and investment capabilities and processes
  • Drive productization of data science use cases to enhance their quality, repeatability, and impact
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices in data analytics and machine learning, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance the firm's data capabilities


Professional Qualifications

  • Proven experience in data science and advanced analytics, preferably in a finance, private equity, strategy consulting, or venture environment
  • Advanced degree in a quantitative field like computer science, engineering, statistics, mathematics, economics, or related
  • Fluent in a number of the following technologies: R, Python, SQL, Power BI, Azure Synapse, or related
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, with a knack for explaining complex analytical concepts to a non-technical business audience
  • Exceptional project management, analytical, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated leadership experience, with ability to influence and motivate stakeholders at all levels
  • Knowledge of financial markets, corporate finance, and/or private equity industry is a plus
  • Data engineering and/or software development experience is a plus
  • Top-tier strategy consulting experience a plus
