Programs and implements application components by leveraging languages such as Java, JavaScript, SQL. Develops a scalable, efficient, and maintainable automation platform from scratch using frameworks like Cypress, REST Assured, TestNG, and Maven. Implements DevOps tasks using container-based runtimes and orchestration, such as Jenkins, uDeploy and LWC. Incorporates and streamlines test automation into software application builds using Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipeline tools such as GitHub, Stash (Bitbucket) and Sourcetree. Assists with code branches, merges, builds pipelines and manage versioning. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Participates in architecture design teams.
- Defines and implements application level architecture.
- Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.
- Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.
- Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.
- Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.
- Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.
- Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.
- Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.
- Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.
- Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.
- Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.
- Advises senior management on technical strategy.
- Mentors junior team members.
- Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.
- Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) automating, testing, and engineering UI or API in JavaScript and Cypress.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) automating, testing, and engineering UI or API in JavaScript and Cypress.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:
- Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing and maintaining robust front-end experiences and user-accessible products, Web components, and platforms at scale, using Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and front end technologies -- Angular, JavaScript, Typescript, and NPM.
- DE developing automation scripts for testing UI applications using JavaScript and Cypress; designing, writing, implementing, and tuning NodeJS applications on AWS Cloud (dynamic scaling and load balancer); and designing and implementing automation testing for highly scalable and customer-facing, production-ready applications using Cypress.
- DE participating in the Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC) by analyzing requirements, recommending and planning software specifications, proposing modifications based on user needs, and creating test plans aligned with project requirements; performing test data setup and mining using SQL or SQL Developer; and supporting all testing phases leading to implementation, including user acceptance testing and post-installation testing, to identify and resolve technical problems using Jira with X-Ray.
- DE performing Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using Jenkins or Udeploy; conducting testing, including smoke, functional, and regression testing, using JavaScript, Cypress, or Bruno; and identifying performance bottlenecks and alerts, and ensuring observability using Splunk.
