Position Description:
Develops software solutions using Java, J2EE, and Object-Oriented (OO) languages. Develops application programming interfaces (APIs) and uses front-end User Interface (UI) technologies to build a software platform. Builds, tests, and deploys software applications according to Agile methodologies. Customizes, develops, and upgrades EMS applications. Confers with systems analysts and other software engineers/developers to design systems and to obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Develops and oversees software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation. Uses business knowledge to translate the vision for divisional initiatives into business solutions by developing complex or multiple software applications and conducting studies of alternatives. Analyzes and recommends changes in project development policies, procedures, standards, and strategies to development experts and management.
Primary Responsibilities:

Participates in architecture design teams.

Defines and implements application-level architecture.

Develops applications on complex projects, components, and subsystems for the division.

Recommends development testing tools and methodologies and reviews and validates test plans.

Responsible for QA readiness of software deliverables.

Develops comprehensive documentation for multiple applications or subsystems.

Establishes full project life cycle plans for complex projects across multiple platforms.

Responsible for meeting project goals on-time and on-budget.

Advises on risk assessment and risk management strategies for projects.

Plans and coordinates project schedules and assignments for multiple projects.

Acts as a primary liaison for business units to resolve various project/technology issues.

Provides technology solutions to daily issues and technical evaluation estimates on technology initiatives.

Advises senior management on technical strategy.

Mentors junior team members.

Performs independent and complex technical and functional analysis for multiple projects supporting several divisional initiatives.

Develops original and creative technical solutions to on-going development efforts.
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and five (5) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing full-stack Web applications using Java and J2EE.
Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Applied Computer Science, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and three (3) years of experience as a Principal Software Engineer/Developer (or closely related occupation) developing full-stack Web applications using Java and J2EE.
Skills and Knowledge:
Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) performing full-stack systems analysis and design -- gathering requirements and documentation, and performing data mining and functional design; and analyzing system dependencies for Angular JS based User Interfaces (UIs), Java Web services, and backend Oracle databases, using SQL queries, PL/SQL blocks, APIs, and automation tools -- Protractor, Karate, and Selenium; extensive knowledge and use of Adobe Experience Manager CMS, particularly on headless and headful content delivery.

DE performing analysis and support of fund reporting and risk analytics applications and platforms, using Java, Oracle, Akamai, Splunk, and Cloud-front; performing API, micro-services, backend and front-end development, using Java, Python, JavaScript, NodeJS, and AWS; and designing and developing full-stack enterprise digital content management system using Web applications in .NET and Java/J2EE.

DE performing project scope planning and systems analysis -- creating technical system documentation, and performing requirements elicitation, design, and development, quality assurance testing, test automation, and production rollout of high-scale, secure customer-facing websites -- according to Agile methodologies, using Enterprise Jira, Microsoft Visio, SQL Developer, HP UFT, Jenkins, uDeploy, Maven, and Datadog.

DE designing and developing large-scale enterprise applications in a complex distributed environment, using Java, J2EE, API Management (Apigee), Node, Database Integration, Cache, Spring/Spring Boot, Swagger, Splunk, Akamai, and Open-API; and implementing enterprise-wide Web-services and API solutions by applying software engineering best practices, using SOAP and REST design principals.
