Who We're Looking For
We are looking for a Principal Software Developer focused on Data and Business Intelligence (BI) who is passionate and experienced professional in designing and developing data solutions, reports and dashboards that enables our internal and external customers derive meaningful insights and trends.
The candidate should possess strong analytical skills, proficiency in BI tools and a solid understanding of data warehousing concepts.
The candidate will be part of the Analytics team responsible for building and maintaining BI solutions to shape Syniverse products of the future that enables business and customers to have seamless experience.
The engineer must also lead application development teams from the concept stage through final implementation. In addition, the engineer must be completely accountable for all tasks assigned to the engineer individually or to the team / project that the engineer is leading.
Finally, the engineer is required to adhere to all of the company’s software development procedures and processes while fulfilling the leadership role.

Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.
-
5 -7 years experience as a BI Developer or relevant Data solutions Experience
-
Minimum 2+ years of foundational experience with Report Development Experience and understanding of data warehousing, performance tuning, table partitioning to deliver optimize solutions
-
Working experience with RDBMS data bases like MySQL, Oracle, Postgres, Hadoop, or other ISO SQL RDBMS for data querying
-
Knowing how APIs work, including request types (GET, POST, PUT, DELETE), authentication methods (like OAuth), and response formats (JSON, XML).
-
Experience or knowledge of building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitLab, etc)
-
Experience working with UI/UX design teams to create appealing and intuitive dashboards and reports
-
Working experience using unix/Linux system environments
-
Experience with popular BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI or others is plus
-
Experience with Data eco system tools like Kafka, Flink, Spark is a definite plus
-
Scripting language skills (Python, bash/shell, server-side JS, etc) is plus
-
Experience deploying containerized applications (Amazon ECS or Kubernetes) is plus
-
Desire to continually keep up with advancements in BI relevant technologies

Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies

Constantly improve product quality, security, and performance.
Responsibilities:
-
Develop, configure, and support dashboards and reports in reporting tools like IQ (Syniverse In house BI tool) or MicroStrategy supporting legacy and new Syniverse products.

Work with reporting data models
-
Ability to use Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to directly access and retrieve data from external sources
-
Write and maintain clear architecture, tests and end user system documentation
-
Collaboratively define, scope, prioritize, and estimate work
-
Perform all phases of product development; including design, coding, testing, and deployment.

Engage with Product stakeholders and others to enhance current product (life cycle development) and define product requirements for new functionality.

Work with Operations team to deploy releases and troubleshoot issues.

Triage, reproduce, and debug issues reported by other coworkers for our areas of responsibility
-
Work autonomously on new items and be proactive in unblocking yourself either by finding solutions or reaching out to other peers
