The Role:

FL110 is seeking a seasoned Principal Scientist, Nanopore Biochemistry with extensive expertise in developing nanopore sensing technologies to join our team.

You will be part of a dynamic, cross-functional team, working closely with chemists, bioinformaticians, software developers, and hardware engineers. The ideal candidate has a strong background in nanopore technology, as well as experience in biotech industry and a record of scientific achievement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, execution, and analysis of advanced research in nanopore technology to drive technological advancements and deliver impactful results
• Build and manage high-performing teams, including hiring, mentoring, and developing talent to foster professional growth and ensure team success
• Develop and implement innovative research strategies and methodologies
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align research activities with company objectives.
• Manage budgets, resources, and timelines effectively.
• Foster a culture of innovation and scientific excellence within the team.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including academic institutions, industry partners, and regulatory bodies.
• Present research findings at scientific conferences and contribute to patent applications.
• Communicate complex scientific concepts and project updates to diverse audiences, including non-scientific stakeholders.

Basic Qualifications

• Ph.D.  or equivalent with a minimum of 8+ years of experience in a relevant field (biophysics, biochemistry, biological engineering, quantitative/synthetic biology or related discipline)
• Demonstrated expertise in nanopore experimentation
• Experience with python-based data analysis and R
• Proven track record of scientific achievements demonstrated through publications, patents, and successful project completions
• Strong leadership and project management skills
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical skills, and attention to detail
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to convey complex scientific information to diverse audiences
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

Nice-to-Haves

• Demonstrated expertise in protein biochemistry including protein expression and purification
• Knowledge of regulatory requirements and quality control standards in a research and development setting.
