Job introduction:
The Global Finance Technology organization is seeking a talented and experienced Principal SAP Basis Engineer to join our team and help us maintain our SAP landscape. The candidate will have a strong technical background in SAP Basis and experience managing and administrating SAP systems, including client copy/refreshes, system and client strategies, transport and migration policies, scheduling, performance tuning, monitoring, ABAP & Java stack administration on HANA, support packages and upgrade strategies. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, systems strategy, architecture, application availability, maintenance, incident management and application performance. Highly competitive candidates will have experience with HANA database standards, financial service industry security standards and third-party tools
The candidate will analyze, design, build, test, implement and/or maintain multiple system components or applications. Additional responsibilities include installing, configuring and maintaining SAP system basis components, managing periodic maintenance activities, refreshes, patching, and upgrades. Will perform SAP system administration providing insight needed to optimize and maintain the overall SAP reliability, availability and performance.
About the job:

  • Reviews Basis strategies and processes to improve efficiencies aligning with business initiatives.
  • Defines standards, guidelines, and quality of service criteria for enabling, implementing, and supporting existing and new SAP landscapes and bolt on environments.
  • Subject matter expert for audit assessments and recurring attestation activities for change management and infrastructure operations of SAP applications.
  • In conjunction with the Manager, leads outsourced technical partners in the ongoing delivery of operational tasks to maximize efficiency and enrich end user experience.
  • Accountable for regular performance reviews, trending and reporting of all SAP systems
  • Evaluates, tests, and provides recommendations on third party tooling.
  • Provide technical project planning and oversight for Basis related efforts.
  • Monitors and tunes system performance and workload.
  • Manage and performs system refreshes; participates in the scheduling of refreshes as requested.
  • Willingness to Support On-call rotation schedule.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in technical or business discipline or equivalent experience, technical degree preferred.
  • Minimum 8+ years of SAP Basis Administration experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of SAP Basis and Hosting processes, system administration and application lifecycle management.
  • Prior experience with a majority of the following components: S/4 HANA, PO 7.5, BPC, Solution Manager 7.2, GRC 10.2, FPSL, PaPM, Analysis for Office, BOBJ and BODS.
  • Experience with global deployments of SAP and related operational challenges.
  • Architectural and operations experience of SAP running in hyperscaler environments (e.g. AWS).
  • Experience with HA and DR options for SAP platforms.
  • SAP performance management and performance tuning. To include E2E analysis, root cause analysis and solution manager performance metrics.
  • Application Lifecycle management projects with SAP Hosting Provider for the total stack (OS, Oracle DB, Kernel, and Application) and the total SAP landscape.
  • Detailed Planning and execution of all activities.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; presentation skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the following: IT concepts, strategies, methodologies.
  • Well versed in diverse technologies and new technical architecture principles and concepts.
  • Extensive understanding of agile software development concepts and processes.
  • Must be proactive, demonstrate initiative and be a logical thinker.
  • Strong collaboration, prioritization, and adaptability skills required
