Job Description
Boston Engineering seeks an experienced Principal Robotics Software Engineer.
Responsibilities:
In this role, you will:
- Develop solutions from the specification phase through the final delivery and acceptance testing
- Approach designs from a system perspective
- Lead the software development of complex robotics systems
- Research and quickly learn new technologies
What sets you apart:
- Acted as a software systems engineer on complex robotics projects
- Contributions to Open Source software
- Localization algorithms
- Behavior Trees
- Path Planning for mobile robots, arm manipulation
- Simulation environments such as Gazebo
Reports to: Director, Software Engineering
Location: Hybrid in Waltham, MA

Qualifications
Do you have these qualifications?
- Eight to twelve plus years of experience
- Bachelor's or higher degree in computer science
- Expert in Robotics (ROS2)
- Expert in software systems architecture and design
- Comfortable acting in a customer-facing role
- Experience with Linux
- Fluency in technical oversight, mentoring, and review of project work efforts from junior-level engineering personnel
- Ability to oversee and conduct project design reviews, identification of project risks, and development of risk mitigation strategies and approaches
- Expert using Git
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
- No relocation
This role is restricted to US persons (i.e., US citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 USC 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Boston Engineering will require proof of status prior to employment.
