Principal Product Manager

The Data Science Team within SAI helps the CMG (Commercial, Medical and Government) organization achieve its vision by unlocking value from data quicker and more effectively. As a center of excellence, the DS team has 3 primary remits: Owning Advanced Data Science Strategy and Innovation for SAI and CMG; Application of Data Science to CMG enterprise priorities, and; Driving the Data Science Capability on behalf of the SAI department. The team leverages advanced data science capabilities, working across CMG to develop strategic and holistic solutions by identifying and leading innovative analytic projects & pilots to enable GNE to deliver for our customers.

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Product Management, the AI/ML Product Management Principal will own AI/ML powered products that help the CMG organization deliver personalized and integrated experiences to Genentech customers through data based decision making. The AI/ML PM Principal will:

• Drive the innovation of our AI/ML and analytics suite for a variety of CMG use cases spanning the entire customer journey. 

• Set AI/ML product vision, strategy and build product roadmaps based on user feedback, user research, business impact, market trends and data insights to deliver an exceptional user experience.

• Be responsible for finding opportunities to infuse AI/ML into Genentech existing platforms where and when applicable to address unarticulated needs of our customers.

• Mentor and manage external (US or offshore) consultants that might be engaged for various use cases.

• Facilitate communication across the organization and to our customers regarding your product. 

• Ensure we are listening to our customers so that we may produce the best product possible based on market demands.

• Develop business cases for AI/ML in new and existing products as part of Genentech integrated customer experience transformation.

• Partner with CMG DS, XO (experience operations), CE (customer engagement), DMA (data management and architecture), IX (IT) team to construct and maintain a stack ranked product backlog.

• Lead the ideation, development, and launch of innovative AI/ML product features. 

• Collect and analyze feedback from users, subject matter experts and partners to build out requirements.

Who You Are

• You have a B.S. or M.S. preferably in Computer Science or equivalent technical degree.

• 10+ years of combined experience in Product Management, machine learning, data science artificial intelligence and software development.

• Experience researching AI/ML industry trends and applying to product strategy and roadmap.

• Ability to write detailed, technical product specs, and present to both technical and non-technical audiences.

• Solid understanding of agile methodologies such as Kanban and Scrum.

• Relevant certifications in product management, machine learning, data science, and other subject areas.

• Robust knowledge of enterprise architectures and solutions such as SaaS, PaaS, IaaS.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $196,000 - $364,000. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.
