Principal Product Designer, Bitkey

The Role
At Bitkey, we believe that bitcoin is more than an investment. Our mission is to make self-custody simple, secure, and accessible for everyone. We design products that fit seamlessly into everyday life, focusing on maximum control with minimal complexity. In our first year, we launched in 90+ countries, earned a Time Magazine Best Inventions award, and became the first hardware wallet with built-in Bitcoin inheritance. As a small team operating as a startup within Block, we move fast, iterate quickly, and deliver high-quality design and innovation.
As a Principal Product Designer, you will help shape the design decisions that inform Bitkey's product strategy and roadmap. Your responsibilities will include designing core features as well as setting longer term vision. You will collaborate with a team of experienced designers, product managers, engineers, and many other roles to deliver exceptional experiences to our customers.
Reporting directly to the Head of Design of our emerging businesses, you'll be part of a global community of designers across Bitkey, Proto, Tidal, and Block as a whole.
This role is open for remote work anywhere in the US.
You Will

• Collaborate with Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and Data Scientists to shape a vision and roadmap that up-levels the quality of the product experience for our customers
• Propose design and product opportunities, promote them across the organization, and own projects from concept through release
• Promote design excellence through mentorship, feedback, and knowledge sharing
• Maintain a principled, customer-centric approach throughout each project, using data, insights, and experience to inform decisions
• Experiment with new design tools, methodologies, and approaches to improve the design process and inspire creativity
• Foster a culture of experimentation and creativity, and build connections across teams and disciplines

You Have

• 12+ years of relevant Product design experience-bonus if you have worked in Bitcoin or crypto currency related fields or are highly knowledgeable about the space.
• A portfolio demonstrating exceptional UX craft, vision, systems design, and prototyping skills
• Experience as an influential design leader who ships impactful, strategic work-including multi-year visions to iterative releases
• Strong design point of view and understanding of how to balance the needs of the customer with that of the business
• Excellent storytelling skills, and a 'show don't tell' approach to aligning teams around a shared vision
• Experience working on consumer products across iOS and Android
• A strong drive to continuously learn and grow, particularly in leveraging AI and emerging technologies to enhance workflow efficiency and optimize team processes.

Block takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. U.S. locations are categorized into one of four zones based on a cost of labor index for that geographic area. The successful candidate's starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future.
