Where you will work:

This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The contributions you will make: 

This position is responsible for overseeing and optimizing procurement activities within the organization. This is a unique opportunity to build and shape a procurement capability from the ground up. The incumbent develops and implements strategic sourcing plans, manages vendor relationships, and negotiates contracts to achieve cost-effective procurement solutions. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to align procurement strategies with business objectives and ensure compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations. 

A typical day: 

Procurement Strategy and Capability 

  • Leads the development of a comprehensive procurement function, overseeing the entire procurement lifecycle for business technology hardware, software, and licenses. 
  • Evaluates current procurement practices, identifies areas for improvement, and establishes a framework that aligns with business objectives to enhance value across the organization. 
  • Develops processes, tools, and resources necessary to create a top-tier procurement capability from the ground up. 
  • Cultivates and sustains strong vendor partnerships to ensure high-quality service delivery, competitive pricing, and alignment with organizational goals. 
  • Conducts contract and pricing negotiations to secure cost savings and additional benefits for the organization. 

Financial Partnership Management 

  • Serves as the primary liaison for procurement within the finance and technology departments. 
  • Collaborates closely to understand requirements, align strategic approaches, and build strong relationships to ensure effective sourcing of goods and services. 
  • Utilizes data-driven insights and financial expertise to guide procurement decisions in alignment with business objectives. 
  • Supports budget forecasting, monitors business technology expenditures, and identifies opportunities for cost reduction. 

Vendor Management and Risk Mitigation 

  • Develops and maintains strong, long-term partnerships with key vendors and suppliers to ensure consistent quality and cost-effectiveness. 
  • Proactively mitigates potential risks by ensuring procurement processes comply with regulatory, contractual, and compliance standards. 

Performance Tracking and Reporting 

  • Collaborates with Finance to create and implement systems for monitoring procurement performance, focusing on cost savings, efficiency improvements, and vendor/supplier effectiveness. 
  • Delivers regular reports and updates to senior leadership, highlighting the procurement function's impact on achieving business goals and objectives. 

The skills and experience we prefer you have: 

  • Expert-level experience in procurement.  
  • Strong background in the financial services or financial industry is preferred.  
  • Experience in building procurement functions from scratch is highly desirable.  
  • Experience in vendor management, contract negotiation, and financial planning within a corporate environment. 
  • Proven track record in establishing procurement functions from the ground up, in collaboration with Finance and Business Technology teams.  
  • Advanced skills in fostering strong partnerships and relationships with internal teams and vendors.  
  • High aptitude for valuing diverse opinions by actively seeking stakeholder input and promoting a collaborative decision-making environment.  
  • Strong contributor to team success through proactive problem-solving and support of team initiatives.  
  • Demonstrated ability to efficiently manage procurement activities, prioritize tasks, and balance multiple responsibilities.  
  • Ability to provide solutions by researching industry trends, negotiating effectively, and implementing procurement best practices.  
  • Ability to innovate by identifying new procurement strategies and leveraging emerging technologies.  
  • Champions change by continuously enhancing processes and improving efficiency in business technology procurement.  
  • Enhances client experience by aligning BT procurement with business operations to deliver value to both team members and external clients.  
  • Exhibits strong negotiation and contract management abilities.  
  • Proven capacity to analyze procurement data and make informed, data-driven decisions.  
  • Demonstrates proficiency with procurement software and business technology licensing models.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

$115,600$175,600 USD
