Job Purpose and Impact
As the Platform Cloud Ops Lead, you will provide thought leadership, design, and hands on technical implementation of infrastructure management supporting our global data platform.
In this role, you will provide thought leadership to drive the technology strategy and foster the use of modern infrastructure and cloud software engineering practices to build, secure and maintain the core capabilities used by our data and application teams to drive business value.
You will provide technical leadership and influence to inspire engineers to constantly learn and apply new trends and technologies to handle business problems.
You will lead a team responsible for providing core capabilities such as: automated infrastructure management, security & access controls, disaster recovery, platform observability, FinOps, and alerting & monitoring of a global data platform. These capabilities are the foundation engineering teams will build upon to unlock business value.
Additionally, this role will provide technical leadership over the data platform production support team including production on-call responsibilities.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide advanced knowledge and thought leadership to drive the execution of the technology vision and strategy for infrastructure management.
- Provide technical leadership and influence the use of software development and infrastructure as code practices to build the platforms, systems and infrastructure.
- Design, develop, test, deploy, support and enhance the highly complex automated infrastructure and platform components.
- Provide expert leadership across multiple engineering teams to resolve highly complex problems and remove road blocks.
- Participate in the engineering community by being a coach and mentor to engineers, share new technical trends, modern skills, and present code best practices.
- Provide expert thought leadership in your field and work with limited direction, using additional research and interpretation to identify issues or problems. You may provide direction to supporting team members and be a strategic contributor.
- Collaborate and provide technical oversight of vendor production support partners.

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum of six years of related work experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading globally distributed teams
- Expertise with Cloud Provider AWS
- Expertise with scripting technologies: Terraform & Python
- Moderate experience with container technologies (Kubernetes, EKS, ECS, Swarm, Docker, etc.)
- Experience with AWS networking tools (Cloud WAN, Direct connect, transit gateway, etc)
- Experience with AWS organizations and provisioning accounts
- Experience with cloud monitoring solutions such as DataDog
- Confirmed experience with continuous integration and continuous delivery tooling to drive infrastructure code deployment
- Experience building large scale disaster recovery strategies and implementations
- Proficient in standard SDLC process and tooling
- Lead the design, deployment and enhancement of complex and varied automated infrastructure and platform components
- Experience with cloud security posture management (CSPM) tooling and implementing best practice security policies
- Experience in scripting including: Ansible, Chef, Golang
- Experience working with platforms such as: Hadoop, Snowflake, Kafka
- Experience with cost monitoring tools such as Apptio Cloudability
