The Principal Mechanical Design Engineer is responsible for providing technical leadership and expertise in mechanical design for Surbana Jurong in the Middle East region. They play a pivotal role in leading the MEP design team, ensuring successful project execution, and delivering high-quality mechanical designs.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
- Lead and manage the MEP design team, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to team members.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance the team's performance and achieve business objectives.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement within the team.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, clients, and project managers to define project requirements and deliverables.
Project Planning and Execution:
- Oversee the planning, execution, and monitoring of MEP design projects, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to resolve complex mechanical design issues.
- Review and approve mechanical design deliverables to ensure compliance with project requirements and industry standards.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to ensure seamless integration of MEP designs into overall project deliverables.
Technical Leadership and Expertise:
- Stay updated with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to mechanical design.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to the team, sharing expertise and promoting professional development.
- Identify and implement innovative mechanical design solutions to optimize project performance and efficiency.
- Support business development activities by participating in client presentations, proposal preparation, and technical discussions.
Required Qualifications:
- BEng(Hons) degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant Engineering discipline.
- 20+ years experience with minimum 2 years in a similar role
- Member of Appropriate Professional Institution (MCIBSE or MASHRAE etc)
Preferred Qualifications:
- MSC degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or relevant Engineering discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Professional Engineer (PE)
Working Conditions:
- Office-based work environment.
- Occasional travel may be required to visit project sites or attend meetings.
