We are looking for you to join our team as a Principal Field Engineer (Operations Planner) or Sr Principal Field Engineer (Operations Planner) based out of San Diego, CA with up to 50% travel throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of USAF exercises (domestic and overseas travel).
What you’ll get to Do:
Join our field engineering team supporting operations and maintenance of a complex airborne and terrestrial tactical communication system providing voice and data services in real world operations. Support the deployed team and will be a key node of BACN mission execution.
This CONUS position will report to the San Diego Field Engineering team. The Operations Planner position does not have any direct reports but is a significant leadership position within the Field Engineering team. You'll also get to:

All pre-mission planning, mission execution and post mission analysis for BACN payload related missions for BACN payloads in real world operations and dynamic Joint Exercises.

Attend planning conferences and work directly with our government customers to gather all data related to BACN exercises and directing specific actions for payload employment to optimize BACN capabilities. Strong customer relations are a critical aspect of the job.

Act as the CONUS point of contact for the BACN mission to include all technical and operational aspects of system employment for exercise participation.

Develop lessons learned and best practices/Tactics, Techniques and Procedures (TTPs) for the future employment of BACN and follow-on systems.
CONUS and OCONUS ( "continental United States" and "outside the continental United States") travel up to 50% in support of USAF in real world operations and dynamic Joint Exercises.
This position may be filled as a Principal Field Engineer (Operations Planner) or Sr Principal Field Engineer (Operations Planner) .
Principal Field Engineer – Exercise Operations Planner (XOP) Basic Qualifications:

5 years relevant experience with bachelor’s in science degree; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD. Note, 9 years' experience may be used in lieu of a bachelor’s in science degree.

Experience deployed to Air Operations Centers (AOC) or HHQ staffs or have have significant C2 -related experience.

Experienced in Military C2 and Multi-TDL networks and data management with a significant experience with Tactical Data Links (TDLs).

Demonstrable customer interface and verbal presentation skills with excellent written skills to develop briefs and post mission analysis.

Experience with Air Tasking Order (ATO), Airspace Control Order (ACO) Airspace Control Plan (ACP) and Frequency Allocation Plan (FAP).

This position requires up to 50% travel throughout CONUS and OCONUS locations in support of USAF exercises.

Must pass a physical health assessment and meet the minimal standards of fitness in alignment with CENTCOM/AFCENT requirements.

Active Secret security (or above) clearance with the investigation completed within the last 4 years.
Sr Principal Field Engineer – Exercise Operations Planner (XOP) Basic Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:

9 years experience with Theater Level Tactical Data Link (TDL) architectures. Proficient mission planner to support theater TDL Information Exchange Requirements – e.g. range extension, data relay and data forwarding of multiple TDLs. Proficient in working with TDL technical system capabilities, TDL military operations requirements, instructions, training plan development, TDL message standards, Link-16 network design, data forwarding and routing applications.

Experience at the Component Commander Headquarters level or higher. Proficient knowledge of military forces capabilities, disposition and relevant command structures (e.g. U.S., NATO and Coalition Forces) and involved in executing joint and allied force operations within the past 2-5 years

Experience in developing lessons learned, best practices, Tactics Techniques and Procedures (TTP)

Experienced user of Falcon View (FV) applications, FV Inter-visibility and installed Radio Frequency (RF) Line-of-Sight mission planning tools

Proficient in working with various Tactical Data Link tools – e.g. JRE, ASDI, LMS 16
Salary Range: $88,700.00 - $133,100.00Salary Range 2: $109,900.00 - $164,900.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
