Principal Digital Product Manager - AI/ML

As Principal Digital Product Manager for AI/ML at PPG, you'll drive financial growth by establishing a clear product vision for AI applications. This involves creating a strategic roadmap, setting product priorities in line with PPG’s growth strategy, implementing a tracking system to monitor productivity improvements driven by AI, and identifying areas for further enhancement. Your role is key in leveraging AI technology to optimize business operations and drive growth.

In this role, you will report to the Digital Group Product Manager – AI/ML.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver on your knowledge of product discovery and the end-to-end product lifecycle

• Prioritize ideas and test valuable product hypotheses designed to deliver value to our internal customers.

• Utilize Data Analytics to make decisions including: master data sources, quality of the data, required integrations, automated vs. manually managed data, use of the data, and ongoing management of the data as it pertains to the product.

• Work with stakeholders to understand objectives, needs, and develop the product release roadmap, set product target values to define success criteria.

• Define and prioritize user stories across multiple Team Backlogs aligned to the roadmap while maintaining the features/components. Collaborate with business teams to drive activation and adoption of digital solutions in order to drive financial impact.

• Review completed development work and accept stories.

• Manage communication with team members and key stakeholders, collecting input, providing updates, and managing expectations throughout the life of the product.

• Manage the financials of the products, including capital funding applications, Opex budget proposals, spend rate monitoring and SOW creation for partner engagements.

• Identify required process changes within PPG to help to foster implementation and adoption of digital products and lead implementation of the changes

• Coordinate and communicate across multiple IT organizations within PPG, pulling together the right skills needed for the solution

• Identify and address key dependencies between cross-functional teams including data scientists, developers, engineers, and business users

• Ensure cross-functional testing plans are in place for User Acceptance Testing of new features

• Share all of the above knowledge and expertise with the team as an expert and coach, improving our AI product practice

Qualifications

• BA/BS required, MBA or advanced technical degree preferred.

• 10+ years experience as a product manager in Digital/DataAI/ML-centric products OR in coatings-related product development roles.

• Expert level proficiency with Azure Devops

• Experience with Agile or SAFe Agile development principles

• Experience translating business and technical concepts for experts and those with only general knowledge including internal/external leaders, and customers.

• Demonstrate keen awareness of product development in an Agile SAFe environment as if the product was your own.

• Expert delivery of clear directions, expectations, set measurable goals, and give insight on industry trends.

• Experience deciding on challenging tradeoffs in establishing product priorities that have required sophisticated analyses and challenging negotiations.

• Be conscientious to set and manage/self-prioritize.

• Understanding of the current technical and business landscape.

• Willingness to potentially travel 20-30%.
