JOB TITLE: Principal Customer Solutions Specialist
DEPARTMENT: Enterprise Accounts & Commercial Strategy
LOCATION: Japan
CONTEXT
Enterprise Accounts is a newly established function in the Global Regions of Medtronic. Enterprise Accounts & Commercial Strategy (EA&CS) leads initiatives to build enterprise-driven strategic accounts management framework and put it into operation in Japan. As an integral part of the strategic accounts management in Japan, we intend to partner with hospital management teams and payers to drive complex transformational change, implement innovative growth strategies, streamline patient-focused care pathways and optimize operations.
MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB
The Principal Customer Solutions Specialist will report into the Senior Director of Enterprise Accounts & Channel Management. This position will play an instrumental role in offering and implementing Medtronic ‘‘Beyond Product’’ Solutions (BPS) for strategic accounts to create critical relationship with the accounts and drive mutual business growth. The position will also play a key role in designing the enterprise-driven strategic account management framework and building capabilities in the organization to put it into operation.
As Principal Customer Solutions Specialist, you will connect with experts in the Global Regions to understand specific BPS to become capable of promoting and localizing the solutions as well as leading the implementation projects at client hospitals in Japan. You will also partner with client hospital stakeholders in the promotion and implementation projects to understand and analyze their most pressing business problems addressable by our solutions, define how our solutions will help the clients address the problems and develop and execute implementation project plan accordingly to deliver high value services for the clients.
MAIN JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Main job duties / responsibilities are:
- Connect with experts in the Global Regions to be capable of promoting and implementing ‘‘beyond product’’ solutions in Japan
- Partner with client hospital stakeholders to understand and analyze their business problems, define how our solutions will help them address the problems and influence them by developing well-articulated situation analysis and business cases for change
- Develop implementation project plans and lead execution of the plans at client hospitals
- Capture learning and best-practices through promotion and implementation experiences in Japan and from colleagues in the Global Regions to create and update playbook and toolbox
- Collaborate with colleagues in Japan and the Global Regions to plan and build readiness for adding new ‘‘beyond product’’ solutions in the Japanese solutions portfolio
- Design the enterprise-driven strategic account management framework and build capabilities in the organization to put it into operation
- Lead and deliver other EA & CS projects as mutually agreed with the direct manager

JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in relevant discipline
- MBA or Master’s Degree in project management or hospital management advantageous
- Experience in consulting
- Experience in strategic planning
- Experience in project management
- Experience of leading smaller projects or a workstream in larger projects
(Experience of leading bigger projects and managing a smaller account independently advantageous) - Fluent in English and Japanese (discussions in both languages will regularly occur)
JOB EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of consulting experience or consultative selling experience in medical device or healthcare industry (consulting for hospital experience advantageous)
- Sales and Marketing experience in medical device/ healthcare industry is preferrable
SKILLS/COMPETENCIES
- Work in teams as well as independently with limited supervision
- Strong analytical and planning skills
- Strong and demonstrable project management skills: planning & coordinating, communicating & influencing, relationship building, achieving milestones, resolving issues and managing risks
- Strong presentation and communication skills in Japanese and English
