Payments Transformation Principal Consultant
Position Overview
We are looking for a dynamic, results-oriented Payments Transformation Principal Consultant to lead payment transformation consulting engagements and drive business growth. In this dual role, you will oversee complex projects involving transformational payment solutions across core money movements —such as ACH, Wire, and real-time payments—while also identifying and cultivating new client opportunities and expanding existing accounts. This position requires a unique mix of leadership, strategic insight, technical expertise, and business development acumen to deliver outstanding results for our clients and broaden our presence in the payments space.

Key Responsibilities
Engagement Delivery
- Directly manage the delivery of payments-related consulting engagements, from strategic advisory to complex transformation and conversion programs; ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget.
- Lead cross-functional teams, potentially comprised of Capco, partner, and client resources, across functional and technical capabilities, to ensure seamless delivery of program deliverables.
- Define project goals, success metrics, and delivery roadmaps to meet client objectives.
Client Relationship Management:
- Act as a trusted advisor to clients providing strategic and technical guidance throughout the engagement.
- Collaborate with senior client stakeholders to determine solutions to their problem(s), and demonstrate the ability to define the scope, success criteria, capacity requirements, and timelines for solving the problem(s).
- Manage expectations and maintain strong client relationships throughout the project lifecycle.
Business Development:
- Identify new business opportunities, including upselling additional services to existing clients and pursuing prospective clients in the payments industry.
- Develop and execute a business development strategy to achieve revenue targets ($1M-$3M annually) and contribute to the organization’s growth.
- Work with internal teams to identify cross-sell and up-sell opportunities during and after project implementations.
Requirements
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant work experience
- 7+ years of experience supporting payment solutions transformations and/or modernizations.
- At least 3 years in a professional services or management consulting role (preferably with a Big 4 or similar firm) supporting the Banking domain with a proven and demonstrable track record of account management and revenue generation.
- Demonstrated experience overseeing complex transformations implementing ACH, SWIFT, SEPA, real-time payments, or other payment networks including an understanding of payment systems, messaging formats (ISO 20022, NACHA, MT/MX), and API integrations.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certifications in payment systems (e.g., Accredited ACH Professional (AAP), SWIFT Certified Specialist).
- Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
- Familiarity with global payment trends, including regulatory updates, digital transformation, and emerging technologies such as blockchain or open banking.
