Principal Application Scientist for the Adhesive Solutions business supporting speciality customers and distributors working closely with sales and account managers to create and deliver business strategies. Support customers technical service needs by advising on or developing solutions leveraging a broad product portfolio. Work with internal teams to address customer needs such as regulatory requests, solve customer complaints and introduce new products into the market. Drive innovation by participating and leading development projects as well as coach others to deliver on innovation.
- Lead technical support activities with customers handling enquiries across multiple applications and product lines covering aspects such as product specification, design issues and complaints
- Support distribution partner sales and customer technical requests making technical recommendations based on Synthomer products, customer processes and end applications
- Research current and potential customer products/markets
- Provide customers and distributors with understanding of the Adhesive Solutions product portfolio via in depth training, conferences, tradeshows, and customer site visits
- Support the business, understand customer needs, identify and progress opportunities to expand the use of the multiple product lines
- Work closely with the sales team on prospect mining and identification of new accounts including traveling with sales for joint customer visits requiring planning, preparation for calls and presentations to customers
- Maintain contact with existing and prospective customers, either independently or together with the sales team, using all communication channels.
- Provide customers with product recommendations and support providing samples, technical and product details facilitating a customer’s evaluation of Synthomer products.
- Ensure with cooperation of Quality, Sales, Application Laboratories and Operations to the satisfaction of the customers and ensure effective communication.
- Collaborate with functional partners including manufacturing to ensure product performance and reliability as well as drive new product development
- Stay current on industry developments and advancements in technology related to the product line
Work with sales and marketing teams to develop product literature and technical data sheets
Requirements:
Master degree in Science, Chemistry or Engineering; PhD is preferred
At least 15 years of experience in Technical Service, Sales or R&D for in flooring adhesives.
