The Barings Global Technology and Operations group is seeking an intern to join its Client & Portfolio Services team in the Barings Internship Program. The Barings Internship Program is intended to provide students with a comprehensive learning experience that affords students with a role that closely resembles the role of a full-time Portfolio Oversight & Management Support Associate. The program will come to fruition with a project presentation that the student has worked on throughout their time at Barings. The 10-week program also includes social events, networking opportunities, involvement in the community, and training.
Interns will learn to perform core processes of the Portfolio Administrator job function. These include variance analysis, creating and reviewing client reporting, and researching issues related to asset/portfolio level data, internal models, and working directly with other teams within Barings. Gaining understanding of co-mingled funds and separately managed account structures investing in bonds, leveraged loans, CLOs, and equities will be paramount.
Primary Responsibilities

Learning multiple systems and workflows to ensure data is aligned through out

An exploratory aspect will be encompassed with this role in this internship as we will show components of Trading, Portfolio Administration, Compliance and Data Management

Preparing and ensuring accuracy of monthly client reporting and attribution reports for portfolio management using valuations from underlying investments

Develop significant level of expertise of the holdings, terms, and transactions of multiple portfolios to provide intuitive and proactive oversight of these portfolios

Overseeing the Service Provider in reconciling portfolio level activity

Reconcile monthly transactions, valuations, management and performance fee calculations, P&L components, and other activity between Barings and the fund accountant/administrator's records on a monthly basis to ensure accuracy

Respond to ad hoc requests from internal and external clients for additional information

Working effectively with outsourced third party administrators and internal parties to ensure a high level of service. Raising service issues in an appropriate manner and following up issues to resolution
Qualifications

Pursuit of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field with a planned graduation date of Spring 2026.

Minimum GPA of 3.0

Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel a plus

Experience in Fund Accounting is preferred

Experience using spreadsheet and database personal computer applications is preferred

Strong organizational, analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to effectively summarize findings, both verbally and in writing, in a clear and concise manner

Detail-oriented and highly motivated
