Job Description
The Portfolio Advisory team provides wealth managers with access to industry-leading analytics and a second set of eyes to better navigate the evolving portfolio management landscape. The team strives to help clients manage risk, identify opportunities, and uncover unintended portfolio exposures.
You Will Be Responsible For:
- Consulting with top advisory teams on improving their portfolio construction process by helping them create new models or improve existing models and ensuring their portfolio positioning aligns with their objectives.
- Leverage IIS’s proprietary investment (including capital market assumptions, macro regime analysis, investment due diligence, trends in advisor portfolios) and portfolio risk & analytic capabilities (Vision)
- Meet frequently with assigned distribution team (or teams) to communicate new thought leadership, analytic capabilities, and IIS investment content
- Create effective feedback loop to ensure proper client follow up and execution
The Experience You Bring:
- 5-7 years relevant experience working closely with wealth managers in a portfolio advisory capacity
- Demonstrated interest and aptitude for continued learning and practically applying portfolio construction and optimization approaches.
- Highly developed communication skills, both written and verbal, including ability to present complex investment material in a digestible manner
- Team player that openly communicates successes and challenges with goal of improving team productivity
- Strong organizational skills and detail orientation
- Open minded, flexible, and willing to listen to other people’s opinions
- Interpersonal skills necessary to effectively communicate over the phone or in person with a variety of individuals at all technical levels are required
- Experience with MSCI Barra One or Morningstar Direct a plus
- Technical skills, including strong investment acumen, understanding of financial markets and economics, and a detailed understanding of portfolio construction techniques
- Technical understanding of portfolio construction, asset allocation, and risk management
- Ability to synthesize and communicate complex investment concepts and ideas to investors
The role:
- Combining quantitative portfolio analysis with qualitative insights to impactfully communicate with clients.
- Synthesize complicated portfolio analytics to provide relevant, digestible insights and actionable takeaways for clients
- Build strong relationships with your assigned distribution partners by acting as a flexible and willing partner to help them build their business
- Generate ideas and feedback to continuously improve the team’s client engagements and offer best-in-class consultations
Formal Education:
- Relevant advance degrees from top academic institution desirable (e.g. MBA, Finance, Economics, etc.)
License / Registration / Certification:
- Series 7 and 63/66 preferred
- CFA or MBA preferred
The salary range for this position in Newport Beach and New York City is $105,000 - $125,000 / year. The total compensation offered for this position includes salary and incentive pay and will vary based on skills, experience and location.
