Leidos is looking for a Senior Platform Systems Administrator to support a large U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) program.  The Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is responsible for enforcing federal antitrust laws and promoting fair competition in the marketplace.  The Senior Platform Systems Administrator will be responsible for maintaining, configuring, and optimizing enterprise-level data protection systems, focusing on CommVault, Cohesity, and similar technologies. You will work closely with other IT teams to ensure the protection, integrity, and availability of critical business data across the organization. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in data management, disaster recovery, and backup solutions, as well as the ability to lead initiatives, optimize workflows, and troubleshoot complex issues within these platforms. This work is located onsite in the DC area.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer, configure, and manage CommVault, Cohesity, and similar data protection technologies to ensure efficient backup, recovery, and data protection strategies.
  • Maintain, monitor, and optimize backup jobs, replication, and disaster recovery plans across both on-premises and cloud environments.
  • Ensure that backup systems are functioning optimally, performing tests on restore and recovery processes to ensure system reliability.
  • Design, implement, and maintain robust disaster recovery solutions, ensuring business continuity in case of data loss or system failure.
  • Develop and document backup strategies, policies, and procedures to support business recovery and compliance requirements.
  • Perform regular backups, data validation, and disaster recovery testing to ensure data is readily recoverable in the event of an incident.
  • Oversee and manage backup solutions that integrate with cloud storage environments (e.g., Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) and hybrid infrastructures.
  • Monitor backup and recovery processes, proactively identifying and addressing performance bottlenecks, hardware failures, or system limitations.
  • Ensure backup windows are met, troubleshooting delays and optimizing the process for efficiency.
  • Manage storage capacity planning for backup environments, ensuring scalability and performance while maintaining cost efficiency.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex backup and recovery issues related to CommVault, Cohesity, and other backup technologies.
  • Automate backup and recovery tasks using PowerShell, Python, or other scripting languages to increase efficiency and reduce manual intervention.
  • Create custom automation scripts to handle routine backup operations, monitoring, and error notifications.
  • Leverage automation tools to streamline backup job scheduling, configuration, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for backup and disaster recovery systems, configurations, and processes.
  • Generate and analyze backup and recovery reports to ensure systems are functioning as expected.
  • Create regular status reports for management regarding backup operations, system health, and recovery test results.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field and 4+ years of related experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 5+ years of experience working with CommVault, Cohesity, or similar backup and data protection platforms. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Proven experience with backup administration, disaster recovery, and data integrity in enterprise environments.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud-based backup solutions, including integration with Azure, AWS, or other public cloud providers.
  • Experience managing backup infrastructure in hybrid environments (on-premises + cloud).
  • Expertise in managing CommVault and Cohesity backup solutions, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and optimization.
  • Strong knowledge of backup and recovery methodologies, such as full, incremental, differential, and snapshot-based backups.
  • Experience with cloud backup strategies and tools for Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
  • Familiarity with storage systems (e.g., NAS, SAN, DAS) and the integration of backup solutions with these technologies.
  • Strong scripting skills in PowerShell, Python, or similar languages to automate backup tasks.
  • Familiarity with backup security concepts, such as encryption, access controls, and data masking.
  • Strong ability to troubleshoot complex issues, identify root causes, and implement efficient solutions.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment and share knowledge and expertise with junior team members.

Desirable Skills:

  • Certifications:
    • CommVault Certified Administrator or equivalent certifications related to data protection and backup solutions.
    • Cohesity Certified Engineer or similar certifications in data protection technologies.
    • Azure Administrator Associate or equivalent cloud-related certifications.
  • Additional Technologies: Familiarity with other data protection technologies such as Veeam, Veritas NetBackup, or Rubrik is a plus.

Pay Range:Pay Range $89,700.00 - $162,150.00
