Purpose of the role

To build and maintain the systems that collect, store, process, and analyse data, such as data pipelines, data warehouses and data lakes to ensure that all data is accurate, accessible, and secure. 

Accountabilities

  • Build and maintenance of data architectures pipelines that enable the transfer and processing of durable, complete and consistent data.
  • Design and implementation of data warehoused and data lakes that manage the appropriate data volumes and velocity and adhere to the required security measures.
  • Development of processing and analysis algorithms fit for the intended data complexity and volumes.
  • Collaboration with data scientist to build and deploy machine learning models.

Embark your transformative journey as a Vice President with Cloud data platform. Cloud data platform team is part of Data Foundations program responsible for building Cloud based datalake and data warehouse solution. Team is responsible for designing and building various reusable assets for data teams to build datalake and artefacts within data warehouse. As a Cloud platform engineering lead, you will support the different downstream teams who are building data assets for various Barclays business units. Role involves engaging with various technology, security, architecture teams, building reusable patterns for further downstream consumption. Role involves mentoring and guiding development community on coding best practices, building devops pipeline, finops management.

To be successful as a Cloud platform engineering lead Vice President within BUK Cloud data platform, you should possess:

  • Expert understanding of data lake and warehouse

  • Broad knowledge of public cloud services

  • Good understanding of data governance methodologies

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills demonstrating a collaborative approach across a range of stakeholders, including senior colleagues.

  • Proven team player, supporting colleagues to achieve team objectives.

  • Critical thinking.
