Thales in the Czech Republic employs over 400 people from 45 different nationalities. A total of 15 teams work on projects for government agencies, banking, mobile services and the Internet Of Things (IoT) technology. At the core of our business is the development of software which we configure and embed in a multitude of different devices and form factors. These include many kinds of payment cards, SIM cards, travel passes, secure eBanking devices, authentication tokens, machine identification modules (MIM), and secure ID documents including ePassports, eID and eHealth cards, as well as eDriving licenses. Because of the international environment surrounding us every day, it comes as no surprise that English is our official corporate language.

As Platform Engineer you will be developing a new platform which enables users to transform their legacy deployments into a modern cloud native environment. The platform strives to solve the recurring problem of on-premises environments, where it is difficult to deploy scalable and highly available solutions. Our goal is to produce a platform where developers can easily create their new environment with all services configured automatically ready to deploy their applications. The platform itself has Kubernetes clusters at its core, where all managed services used for logging, monitoring, authenticating, etc. are deployed alongside product applications.

Development duties:

  • Work on development and maintenance of the platform.
  • Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines which will be used for automated deployment of our platform
  • Integrate new services into the platform and interconnect it with existing services.
  • Write and maintain product documentation.

Support duties:

  • Support the engineering and delivery teams in the automated platform deployment.
  • Communication with other teams to coordinate new feature development.
  • Train people on usage of platform and services that it provides

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or master’s degree in computer science (or Information Technology related field)
  • Work experience as a software engineer or DevOps engineer
  • Experience in managing Kubernetes infrastructure
  • Experience in Continuous Integration tools (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab)
  • Proficiency in various script languages (Bash, Python)
  • Experience in provisioning, configuration management, and application-deployment tool (Ansible, Docker, Infrastructure as Code)
